"Brilliant place to stay for a stop-off while travelling or as a base for exploring this lovely part of the south-west, it is a really easy and comfortable place. We were in room 1 which had nice views of the church and was right next to the well-equipped kitchen area where you can go and make yourself a drink or relax in the lounge. "The place is under new management who offered a warm welcome, a clean room, done up the place as best they could. The place still has a few issues from being taken over eg shower not draining well and a new mattress due but the new team are trying hard to make a go of it and are trying to make good."

"Kind and lovely people, lovely chat and they really cared. Very much a spare room in the end of their house with a it’s own bathroom so very homely. Breakfast room was a breakfast room with lots of stuff and a cat (I loved the cat). It’s down a very rough and rocky track in the car. Basically it’s an authentic working farm with some lovely farmers who make a solid breakfast. I’d be back. If you are looking for a polished hotel experience this isn’t for you but for a real life nice people...

"The inn it self is amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They are in a difficult place with renovating I think, but have to say the cobwebs or dust webs were very noticeable but the bed was superb and the carpet very good and clean. Just missing handle on the door to room so had to use key to try and pull shut and the bathroom door handle on the inside broken to quite a sharp point which I had found out at night using the toilet lol. "A classic pub, the building is old but it is a lovely place to stay, 2 minute walk from the starcross train station. (which also has the ferry to Exmouth) The room was clean, bright and comfortable and the owners are very accommodating. Would happily stay here again"

"All 16 of us (6 adults, 10 kids) absolutely loved this house, as did our puppy.The house had everything we needed and the kids loved arriving to a delicious tray of rocky road.The pool (which is larger than the photos do justice) and hot tub are warm and perfect for everyone to enjoy on a cold February week in Devon.We would definitely recommend and hope to return soon.. "The Telstar is a lovely old time bed and breakfast using a converted house (i think). It is relatively close to Exeter St David's train station, and very close to Exeter University. The rate includes breakfast and free parking, which is a big nus. I had the single room with a small shower and toilet. No complaints. The staff are all very helpful. Be warned that there are no lifts in the hotel and the stairway is quite narrow. So those with huge luggage will have some difficulty getting up to the upper floor. Also, from the train station, the Telstar is on a hill. Given the room rate and everything, i am happy to recommend the Telstar. My thanks to Sam and Amy for making the stay a very enjoyable one. "

"Hotel was modern and well maintained. Bathroom was to a high standard. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. Bar / breakfast area was pleasant. The only fault was that staff whipped the breakfast food away bang on time. They could have given 5 more minutes or asked guests if they would like anything else first. Hotel ideally located for city centre. "

"This is an excellent hotel. Modern, stylish and located right in the heart of Exeter. For Americans who might not know: you can't actually take a taxi or drive right into the city center. Several blocks around the cathedral and in the district are pedestrian-only. So you get dropped off a couple of blocks from the property and have to walk the rest of the way. But it's still worth it: this hotel had great service, good amenities, and is worth it."
