"Our stay was in mid-March and the hotel was very quiet at that time. Our room on the ground floor was very convenient for the hotel pool which had a hot tub and sauna. The pool water was a bit too cold but the hot tub and sauna were very good. There are walking trails and a small lake nearby which is great for birdwatching. Also views of a ruined castle within walking distance. Restaurant food was nicely presented."

"Park Cottage is set in a lovely location in Cally Woods (so many great walks and cycle opportunities). Also with use of the Cally Palace Hotel facilities including the swimming pool. However the house was unclean, especially the kitchen with unusable pans and not enough cutlery to sit 9 people in one setting. There was black mould on the downstairs bathroom ceiling. Such a shame as the cottage is a great space for families and could be lovely, but when I have fed back about these issues I have...

"A very complete cottage with everything you need and want, in a perfect quality. The Galloway Forest Park did surprise us; all different walks are wonderful, guided and accessible. The visitors centers are well equipped."

Two minutes walk into the village, which has all you could need. Recommend No1 Fleet Street, aka The Ship as well as Galloway Lodge for quality and value for money. This was not our experience at the visitor centre. The Spar is very well stocked. Beautiful coastline, also recommend Caerlaverock Castle and the lighthouse...
