"Though the promotional materials said no vaping or marijuana are allowed on the premises, that was the first thing I smelled upon arrival. The room appeared clean but the bed pillows were uncomfortable. Upon leaving I requested a receipt but the main printer was malfunctioning. The manager had to be called to provide a hand receipt. "

"Easy to get to, limited parking and an alright breakfast. There were a couple of people hanging out in the lobby that i didnt think were staying there, they were using the internet, little wierd...but our room was great. Super comfy bed... we would surely stay here again."

Home of Freeman Walker, outstanding citizen of early Georgia. Born in Virginia in 1780, he came to Richmond County in his youth and studied law. Freeman Walker, in 1826, deeded 70 acres of land to the United States Government to be used as an arsenal-the site now of the Junior College of Augusta. He reserved one acre as a family burial ground, known as the Walker Cemetery. He was the father of Maj. Gen. W. H. T. Walker, CSA. Admitted to the bar in 1802, he followed a life of public service; City Attorney for three years and Mayor of Augusta 1817-19, being the first to hold the city´s chief executive office under the name of Mayor, and Brigade Inspector of Gen. Valentine Walker´s brigade in 1813. He represented Richmond County in both branches of the State Legislature and represented Georgia in the U. S. Senate. His speech on the Missouri Compromise attracted nation-wide attention.

He died in 1827 and is buried in the Walker Cemetery.

HOTELS.COM customer service is a JOKE!!!

"When I got the the hotel, the clerk told me that they had no record of Hotels.com sharing any records that I had to cancel and reschedule dates of my stay. Clerk said try calling them first. Well good luck finding an 1-800 number anywhere on the website!!! I had to Google search just to find one!!! Once I got a hold of someone and explained the situation- not only was she rude as F**K, but constantly kept putting me on hold so she didn’t have to talk to me. At one point I even ask the clerk to speak with her and she was equally just as nasty. So then she puts me on a 20 minute hold to connect me to someone else. Keep in mind I’ve been here almost 45 minutes waiting on Hotels.com to give me something! So EVENTUALLY we get transferred and the girl ultimately said “oh it looks like our system had an error occur…..” on somehow the clerk kept clicking on stuff and it finally went through and she said thanks but you ain’t any help! So Deyh at the front desk was the ONLY person who did everything she could to get me into a room. So THANK YOU BEST WESTEN PLUS! THANK YOU DEYH!!! Hotels.com YALL ARE SOME CROOKS AND YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GOD AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!"

Great Stay While In Town For Work

"A coworker and I stayed here for 3 nights while in town for work. We really enjoyed the stay and it was much better than being in a hotel room for 3 nights. The large TV and recliners were are plus for watching the Super Bowl. The host called prior to arrival to ensure we knew that he stayed upstairs. I was aware of this since it is in the listing but very professional of him to call and make sure we were aware. The way it’s set up with its own entrance and having the entire downstairs made it feel as if we had the entire place to ourselves. Will definitely book here again when in Augusta. Also, very close to Augusta National. "
