"Overall a good experience. Our room was upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival which was a nice touch however a night there was a lot of noise until late as well as early in the morning. I’m not sure if this was due to location of the room (being on first floor and above the dining room/kitchen). It was difficult to sleep, especially if you’re a light sleeper."

"We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel. Everything available on site, but also very easy walking distance to Funchal centre. All of the staff were extremely helpful & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was wonderful & breakfast was a delicious choice of fresh & cooked food. We would highly recommend this hotel & will definitely be back. It was my partners birthday while we were in Madeira & despite us not announcing this in any way, he was presented with a birthday...

"We had a really nice view from our room of the beach below. The room was spacious and very clean. For me the bed was not very comfortable as I am a side sleeper and the mattress was fairly hard. It wasn’t really close to old town, so we had to get transportation back and forth. "

"Beautiful property located in a great area walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We booked the Premier Suite which was lovely and spacious with a beautiful balcony overlooking Funchal. The staff were wonderful and the breakfast each morning was delicious. The grounds of the hotel are also lovely. Would definitely stay here again."

"We stayed for 8 days and had a fantastic time. Breakfast was fresh and had lots of choices to set you up for the day. The property is spotless and the rooms are very spacious. All the staff were amazing especially Pedro on the front desk and Gilda who cleaned our room on a daily basis. "

"The most serene and relaxing hotel I’ve visited! The gardens surrounding the hotel are gorgeous and the food at the restaurant it absolutely delicious! Rooms are spacious with a huge tub to relax in and a firm bed. I would come back in an instant!"

An absolute must in the Santana region!

"This hotel was our ‘splash’ for the trip and it absolutely delivered. Very friendly and professional welcome at the Reception desk, checked in early with no qualms at all, beautifully clean rooms with good amenities and amazing views. We loved the cliff side location with views over the dramatic Madeira’s coast. Impressive breakfast spread tended by staff who were very well trained. We enjoyed the pool/ hot tub though felt a little rushed after the day as it closed at 8pm… perhaps 9pm would give guests the opportunity to enjoy after a busy days walking / exploring. We visited in early March and the weather was changeable but the hotel was a welcome haven to relax away from the elements. We ate at the bar and the portions were huge. Very much enjoyed the evening guitarist who made the atmosphere relaxed and very pleasant. We would return tomorrow, especially during the summer, when the outdoor pool amongst the vineyards would be an extra treat. Thankyou. It was a lovely stay "

Villa Ricardo - A luxury villa with HEATED POOL and magnificent SEA VIEWS!

Charming Villa Ricardo

"The villa is charming and cozy with plenty of room for 3 couples. Our host Ricardo was very attentive to our group and we had a wonderful time sampling beverages with him. The kitchen is small but the villa was in walking distance to many excellent restaurants in Porto da Cruz. There are many outdoor areas to relax in and the property is beautifully landscaped with fruit trees of all kinds. Thanks to Ricardo and Rubina for making this a memorable stay. I would definitely recommend the villa and hope to visit again. "

"The most welcoming and kind hearted host! We arrived late and she was so accomodating, great communications and made us feel at home instantly. The room was spotless and furnished with everything you would want - lovely welcome gifts also! Wish we could have stayed longer! Great location for PR1 sunrise hike the next morning. Keep an eye out for the goats! "
