"We booked without much research at the last minute for a one night stay. Welcomed on arrival by Jordan, who later served us at the bar, in the restaurant and at breakfast. He has just the right mix of great customer focus with informality and a sense of humour (Yorkshire tea is DEFINITELY not the best in the world!). The building is old, so is bound to have a few quirky elements, but our room had a very comfortable bed and a powerful shower and even a painted bathroom floor. The view from our room (and pretty much everywhere else) was great, across the fields to the sea. Had dinner in the conservatory and enjoyed it, especially the cod recommended by Jordan. Would definitely return, and hope to do so. "

"Cleanliness was excellent. Housekeeping staff very pleasant and nothing too much trouble. Beautifully laundered white bedding and towels. Good food. Breakfast served in pleasant upstairs dining room. Evening meal served in the bar downstairs. Very well located for shops, promenade and public transport. "

"We arrived a little before 8 pm after a long journey. Very friendly young staff at check on and another who saw us bringing in cases for upstairs room and immediately offered to help. (Historic property has steep stairs.) Quirky room with en suite cleverly included ( though up another three steps.) We were delighted that food was still being served in the restaurant - excellent Iberian menu prepared by a Portuguese chef. Very generous portions. We had tapas to start with, but then couldn't finish our mains - offer immediatelyade to have them boxed up - we look forward to eating them later on our travels. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who values character rather than a blandly predictable hotel. And excellent value - less than half the price of a Travelodge in London. Comfortable , springy bed. Room overlooks main street of Street, and historic windows not double- glazed, but not excessively noisy overnight. I slept well, ( though I always carry ear plugs with me)"

"Loved the hotel. Loved the location. Staff were lovely and very obliging. Breakfast was extremely good, it was just a shame that the restaurant is closed at present but lots of places to eat within walking distance. We are looking forward to going back in 3 weeks time for another 2 night stay. "

"We had a nice time at the Pecking Mill. It was clean, the room was extra large, with a double bed and two single beds. The breakfast was cook nicely and was hot. There were cereals, yogurts, toast, orange juice and hot drinks. A lovely place to stay."
