"The house is older than it appears in the pictures but that just adds to the charm. It was convenient enough to Tappahanock that we ordered dinner and picked it up each night. The kitchen could use flat baking sheets but everything else was available. The king-sized bed in the master room was very comfortable. My mother did not sleep comfortably in the Queen bed, it was too low to the ground. If sleeping in the 2 queen room or in one of the twin beds, you will need to go up and down very steep stairs not suitable for the elderly. The twin beds are not in an enclosed room but more a loft area. To access the game room, you have to exit the main house and go down the outside stairs to enter thru a separate entrance. This was very inconvenient with the smaller children as we did not want them going outside alone. There are no arcade games even though it is showed in the pictures. The dart board only had 2 working darts. The air hockey table fan was not efficient enough to work. It was also extremely windy so unfortunately, we couldn't enjoy the outside porch or the fire pit. They did have wood available, which was a nice thought. The wind was so bad it kept blowing the very heavy top off the hot tub, it was NOT easy trying to get it back on. I don't know if there's a way to secure it but that should be looked into. The living room curtains were missing over the big window. We would love to return in the summer to enjoy the beautiful view."

"Our family was gathering in Heathsville for Christmas and additional accommodations were needed to ensure everyone’s comfort over the holiday. While much of our time was spent at ‘Grandma’s house’ a few miles away, this was the perfect place for us to enjoy late evenings and early mornings. Cousins could be heard laughing long into the night as they caught up in the ‘loft room’, each morning started with a stroll in the dock, and days ended by gazing at the stars.Despite a slight communication issue prior to the reservation date (which VRBO’s help center quickly worked to resolve), the owner’s information was thorough, timely, and super helpful. He even ensured that the house was warmed to a comfortable temperature upon our arrival.Just flagging for future guests that linens and towels are not provided, including hand and dish towels.We had a wonderful time, loved the location, and will certainly consider returning when we can enjoy the waterfront activities more fully. Thank you!"
