"This is a very clean, very well equipped, and beautifully decorated basement walkout apartment. We stayed here for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet and peaceful setting, just minutes from amenities, and a short drive from Pike's Peak. "I had the pleasure of spending the Christmas holidays at Black Bear Chateu in Colorado Springs. The home was beautiful and my host, Mary Louise, had decorated my home with Christmas lights and decorations which made me feel right at home. The property has everything you could ask for including bedroom, kitchen, televisions in the living room and bedroom and deer and turkeys that visited every morning. "My wife and I loved our stay. We have been in many VRBO’s and this was the most well thought out place we’ve stayed. It was wonderful to have so many different outdoor spaces to relax and when it started snowing, it was nice to sit in front of the floor to ceiling windows, drink coffee, and watch the snow come down. "This little place was cozy and perfect for a getaway! It has everything you need and the hot tub is great. The location feels very secluded, but it’s less that two blocks from the heart of downtown Manitou. I only got my car out once in four days and just walked everywhere. The hosts were very communicative and checked in to make sure I had what I needed. "

We were looking for a place that was close to Colorado Springs but wanted something that had a more rural feel and this unit did the trick. "We needed a place with a great yard for our dogs and this fit the bill. The views of Pikes Peak and garden of the gods are amazing! The house was clean; however many of the dishes were dirty and toaster oven hadn’t been cleaned out. This is a hazard of having guests do their own dishes upon departure that we’ve noticed in other rentals as well. We’re accustomed to washing everything we use before using it so no big deal to us. We would stay again, the owner is very responsive to any request."

"The cabin was clean and inviting. It was rural, but had neighbors near by so you were not completely secluded. Only complaint would be add showed a fire burning stove and wood provided but the cabin had an electric fire place. Hot tub was clean, beach towels provided and all kitchen utensils. Would go back again! "

A few minor improvements recommended for the future:There was not a standard set of pots and pans with which to cook or bake.
