In the end we decided not to stay an extra day in El Calafate to travel to the Perito Moreno glacier because we had seen a number of glaciers in Chile, so we had just one night at the Mirador del Lago, but it is a very nice hotel. In fact, the hotel was the high point of our visit to El Calafate -- even if the view of the lake is actually across a street and through some trees. A check of other dining options in El Calafate also led us to eat dinner in the hotel restaurant as well, and we were not disappointed. "

Common area was a nice space to gather, especially as the weather was really challenging. Good wifi in the common areas but none in the rooms. Would have liked wifi in the room for video calls to family at home, but, otherwise it was fine. They offer box lunches for hikers. Lots of good restaurants close by. Close to hiking trails. "
