"My husband and I spent five wonderful days at Il Giardino del Rio and enjoyed every moment. The room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect for short walks through Castel di Sangro, or for drives through the gorgeous Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo and its scenic towns. The best thing about the inn, however? Proprietors Davide and Enzo, and Adnan. Each one made us feel like family. We already miss them!"

Location was convenient for in-town activities and also for the ski areas. For an American, the bed might seem a bit hard, but it was quite comfortable by European standards. "We had a lovely stay. The service was incredible. The place is run by 2 sisters and their Mamma. Mamma's food in the restaurant was SO good! (Book when you check in. It's homestyle Italian (homemade pastas, grilled meats...) Things you will want to know if you are American or from northern Europe... One of the sisters speaks French and Italian, the other one speaks English and Italian. Our room was small (just enough room to walk around the large bed and the bunk beds), the walls/doors are thin,...

"Our two-night stay in Sulmona could not have been better. This six-room hotel, run by two brothers, is modern, clean, convenient to the center, and comfortable (great bed). Breakfast will fit any diet. Heat is more than ample. We asked them to recommend a driver to could take us into the mountains for c. 4 hours, and one of the brothers volunteered for a very fair price. Recommended without qualification."
