"Me and my spent the weekend in cabin 2. Overall good experience as no one else was there. Not quite as secluded as I would prefer. Cabins are too close together and at the edge of town "

"So many issues... 1) Does not have a finished ceiling as shown in pics. Metal roof was exposed to the inside, rusted, and had holes. 2) 6' radius water stain in corner of LR carpet. BR carpets were badly stained, as well. 3) Cabinetry old and signs of mice in drawers. Signs of mice in BRs and bath also. 4) Fixed arm faucet installed on double basin sink so water hit divider and had to be twisted to avoid splashing exposing holes where hot/cold water lines were supposed to be. So, cold water only. Same problem with bath sink. 5) Toilet rocked on the base and water leaked out all over when flushed. 6) Wifi didn't work at first. Discovered it was plugged into an nonfunctioning outlet. 7) Sliding kit window did not open for fresh air, and screen door glass was stuck in partially open position and no screen over it. Also, threshold was a trip hazard.Contacted manager immediately (Sat afternoon) about the rocking, leaking toilet. He said he couldn't get anyone there until Mon, but offered to move us to the trailer next door. Did not want to move to another property by this owner assuming it would be just as bad. No one showed up to make repairs on Mon. Left on Tues. Contacted VRBO, who kindly offered me a small credit to use on a future VRBO stay, and required owner to issue a partial night's refund.Thought I had submitted a review on this property shortly after returning home. Did not see it posted, and now 3 months later, received email that owner responded."

"I chose that title because I spent a couple of summers at a Methodist church camp (Epworth Forest in Indiana) and that's what we called our daytime "base." It is, however, a fitting title given the oak-hickory forest that surrounds the property. Cozy Cottage lived up to its name; both comfy and cozy despite our arrival on day three of a four-day rain event. It was our 6-month-old Lab's first road trip, and she loved running through the fallen leaves and investigating all the sticks they'd buried. The We found the furnishings comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. We slept like the proverbial babies in the "master bedroom"; with an extra room for storing our gear. Our meals were taken around a handsome farmhouse table. Cozy Cottage has easy access to several nearby state parks, the Ozark Trail, and Shepherd Mountain bike park; as well as hunting and fishing in the nearby Mark Twain National Forest. We visited several of the parks; sadly most were fully or partially closed because of a major flooding event. We did get into Elephant Rock and Taum Sauk, however. We also hiked some of the trails on the property, tracking the white gravel paths through the fallen leaf cover. We're not much for dining out on trips, but we did get some pretty good burgers from the Iron Mule in Ironton and a massive, 2-person cinnamon roll from Thee Abbey Kitchen in Arcadia.
