Downtown San Jose is interesting but a bit tatty, though a very prominent security presence was very comforting (though we did not tour after dark). The area is visually attractive but too full of souvenir shops, rather like New York's Times Square in the1980s. But the hotel itself more than compensated for the lack of neighborhood ambience. "

"Perfect spot to stay next to San Jose city-center. Everything is walkable from this small hotel which is half a block from the main square. Staff is very nice, helpful, English-speaking, and accommodating. Free breakfast is large and lots of choices. Room was HUGE and very clean, bathroom was very modern, and the bed was comfortable. High marks!!"
