We did get to see the howler monkeys one morning from the patio. It is about 25 minutes from Tamarindo, which I was good with, as we were out of the hustle and bustle but coyld get there quickly. We loved having the pool right out the front door, and the gated community was the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. There are dozens of restaurants (and shopping) within a 10-15 minute walk, and we enjoyed watching the monkeys in the trees during our walks to the beach (about 15 minutes).
