"We thought the hosts were really lovely and the location of the guesthouse was ideal for us for walking. There are two pubs within walking distance which serve fantastic food: Coledale inn and Royal Oak. However, we had a downstairs room and seemed to have been really unlucky with the guests upstairs who woke us up every hour during the night. Thankfully, we were only staying a couple of nights as we were absolutely exhausted by the end. Would recommend a stay, just maybe ask for an upstairs...

"Maple Bank is a gem of a place. Super location literally 100 yards from a bus stop, which has an hourly bus right through to midnight, with a £2 fare cap! We chose to walk in to Keswick one morning which took about 50 minutes. Check-in was great and informative, outlining options for breakfast for vegetarian & vegan choices. "Erika's cottage was clean, well equipped and in a quiet location. The view of Blencathra from the back of the cottage is beautiful and we loved seeing the red squirrels who were daily visitors. We didn't meet our hosts so can't comment on them but the emails via VRBO were adequate and we found our way in and around easily. The extra information about the area was very welcome.
