"This place is an incredible gem. I can't be more serious when I say this place was an absolutely stunning find for such an affordable rate. I was coming into Salisbury to see nearby sites such as Stonehenge and Old Sarum and Salisbury Cathedral. The Red Lion is a historic, 800 year old inn located conveniently within a lovely short walk to the cathedral and a 2 minute walk to the bus station for all of the historic sites. Walking in to the ivy lined courtyard to the half timber building with the reception counter in it, I could already tell this place had been cared for very lovingly over the years. The counter staff were beyond helpful from check in onward for any requests, including allowing me to leave my luggage safely for four days and allowing me to extend my stay here not once but three times! The Red Lion has so much charm and character but is also impeccably kept up. I stayed in two different rooms while staying here and both were very clean, comfortable and spacious. I loved having a full size bathtub and also a shower option. I ate and drank in the restaurant for a few meals and the food was probably some of the best I've had at a hotel, and also reasonably priced, and the drinks were good portioned and well made. I hope to come back and stay here again. I hope this place sticks around for another 800 years!"

"Exec room needed 2 comfy chairs and a table. TV did not swivel.Door closers noisy, clunk bang from 6 am in the morning. No air con so if the weather is hot an option of opening the window is a choice of traffic noise or heat. Did not eat in the restaurant as the menu looked very average, A whole side dedicated to Mac (what ever that is)."

"Staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. One of the ladies saved the day by getting us a cab to Southampton in time for our cruise. We were going to Uber and found out there are no Ubers in Salisbury. Do not know her name but we are eternally grateful. "

"A lovely apartment, well-equipped, considerately furnished and a home from home. Two ensuites provide the choice of a bath and shower and there are lots of windows throughout the apartment making it light and airy, with additional air-con units supplied in the bedrooms. It's in a good location for exploring Salisbury, Winchester and Southampton as well as the New Forest, and just 12 minutes from Paulton's Park with Peppa Pig World! The customer service was excellent and we definitely hope to return but do be aware that it's an attic apartment so has 3 flights of stairs and the sofa bed would benefit from an additional mattress for comfort."
