"Smoothest hotel stay I can recall. Both the female receptionist in the evening and her male colleague in the morning were friendly and super helpful. I can't recommend the hotel enough. The views from the room were gorgeous, too. "

"A friend and I had a lovely stay at this Westcliff Hotel having enjoyed an evening at the theatre nearby. Room had a sea view, twin beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, bar service was good, staff lovely and friendly. Bedding and towels were clean, toiletries were provided, walk in shower nice and hot. Sadly though like a lot of our seaside hotels, it is very 'tired' and needs some refurbishment. Have stayed here before and would stay again - will remember my plug for charger next time as sockets not updated with USB connections!"

"Great homely guest house near the seafront in Westcliff. Comfy bed and spacious room. Tasty full English breakfast. Nozzle on room radiator was broken but staff were able to turn it off for me. They stored my luggage the day I left. Would definitely return!"

"There was no checkin process, info, guidance etc. Pretty much have to figure everything out yourself, including where the front door is. Gotta download a janky app to unlock the doors and then you have to specifically ask for the wifi details before they’re provided. The host is available until 3pm, which strangely is also when earliest check in is. Average response time was somewhere between 2-3 hours. We were supplied a single roll of toilet paper and a single coffee pod between two people for three nights. We asked for more of both and it took something like 28 hours and a reminder before they were actually given. Literally had to have a shower after using the toilet. The iron was terrible quality, leaked water and was broken etc. I had to iron my shirt for 45 minutes and it was still creased, have never had that experience before. There was also no drinking glasses, which is just weird. There were some mugs but I thought it was just a strange thing to not have in a kitchen. Also there is a washing machine but nothing to hang your clothes out to dry on, nor a dryer (so far as I could tell). The room was clean, bed comfy, and the wifi was reasonably quick but the area is dodgy. We had a dog (inside the building) barking for maybe the first four hours of our stay and neighbours having screaming matches in the next building. Those factors didn’t affect my rating as they’re not within the host’s control but it is something I’d have wanted to be able to read in reviews."

"Paid in advance for 2 bedroom apartment for 3 nights. Tried to make contact night before check in but no response. Then told whilst half way there, a few hours before arriving, that our stay had been cancelled due to apartment damage from previous guest. Was given a refund but was already on my way with family and pet in car and this left us in very difficult situation. Was offered 1 bedroom for one night but at a cost. Think we should have been accododated for the one night at no cost considering. Ended up paying to stay somewhere else and as it was short notice paid £170 extra and not in location we wanted."
