"We really loved the beds and the comfortable sofas. So enjoyed the deck and outside furniture. The bird life was all around us. The beach walk down below was stunning. Spotlessly clean. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you!"

"I was literlary on a flying visit through the area and needed a quiet, peaceful and clean place to stay. I was wowed by the cabin and licarion. Having the bsach access withing 2 mins was fantastic! It was just what i needed."

"Wonderful secluded retreat near the ocean - almost new condition - has everything you could want in terms of amenities and short walk to a remote beach with so few people you will likely not see anyone else. Beaches are not for swimming - but for walking and admiring the ocean. Great place to recharge and relax. There is a gravel road off the highway to access the property (drive takes about 20 mins but conditions is good). "

"This was a great base camp for exploring the Catlins. Beds were clean and comfortable, although I felt I had to wipe down the kitchen before using it. The property was amazing! Beautiful views of the estuary, a peaceful place to walk in the mornings, and good view of stars at night. "

"This was the most luxurious accommodation we have stayed at in a long time. Not only was it perfect and indulgent, our hosts were amazing. We appreciated every attention to detail, even treating us in the morning by our first names as we got coffee. They made us feel welcome and part of the family."

"I had the pleasure to visit the Catlins again this year so took the opportunity to stay agsin in Surat as well this accommodation. The owner very friendly & helpful. It’s a great wee spot & property has awesome views of the sea & bay area. Large grounds as well with outdoor seating. Definitely will stay another time. "

Second visit and another triumph

"Second time staying here and although the weather was, again, less than great, it was still a great time and the units and overall space are still really well maintained. Surat Bay is accessible and, further along, so is cannibal bay. Owaka nearby is also a lovely spot for an hour or two, with a solid restaurant, great coffee place, superb book shop and quaint little museum and community space. It is a beautiful spot, far from the world where all you'll hear are birds, the sea and wind moving through water ... And rain! Lots of rain! But without the rain, you wouldn't get that lush kiwi green."
