"If you want to stay in the forest away from the crowd, this is a great spot. Quiet. Secluded. Need a car to get to and from the city and excursions. Place was clean, well kept, spacious. I’d stay here again! Opened my window and saw monkeys outside! "

"Basic but clean accommodation. The lodges have their own nature trail which is fun (takes 30mins to walk round). There is a nice cafe and small supermarket at the end of the hotel drive but you really need your own transport to get into Santa Elena."

"The staff took very good care of us. My husband booked a birding tour through the Eco Lodge and the guide did an excellent job. Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. The lodge is off the main roads so is more quiet. We would stay again."

"Our room was basically made out of wood, and the balcony looked over the mountains. We loved that! We had a beautiful sunset. There was an excellent restaurant within walking distance with gluten free options. The breakfast was large and tasty. Couldn't ask for anything more."

"The staff, breakfast, and location were great, and the nearby capuchin monkeys and wildlife were delightful. But… a hotel has one main job to do: provide a comfortable bed and pillow for a good night’s rest. Our three-night stay wasn’t great. Bed and pillows didn’t cut it. We liked the help with getting transportation and an excursion to the Cloud Forest Reserve, but we were always dreading the night’s sleep. If you’re going to drive all the way to Monteverde, stay somewhere more comfortable."

"We stayed two nights and I wish we had booked more time there. Wildlife Paradise is at the end of a 2-km rough road east and uphill from the San Luis school, but it is well worth the drive. You don't need 4-wheel drive but you do need a short wheel-base 2-wd. This property is more like a two-room bed and breakfast. It's main advantage is that it is off-the-beaten path and is surrounded by rain forest. You won't see the crowds of people that make a Monteverde visit challenging these days. Many...
