The Black and White House Museum is a well-preserved half-timbered Jacobean building in the centre of Hereford. It was built in 1621 as part of Butchers' Row. In 1816, other buildings on the row started to be demolished, and, now, Old House is the only remaining house in the original row. The house has been used by butchers, ironmongers, and bankers during its history.

"Our stay at Somerville House was excellent. Sheila and Steve were very welcoming and provided everything to make our stay comfortable. The breakfasts were absolutely first class, the beds were extremely comfortable and the room had plenty of storage space. The beautiful garden was quiet and colourful with plenty of garden tables and chairs to use and a large canopy for shade which Steve put up for us. We had a choice of leaflets providing information about local places to visit and Sheila's suggestions helped us enjoy some lovely days out during our stay. We will definitely return! Superb stay

"I booked a room as I was attending a dinner dance evening in the ballroom. Everything from the evening meal through to the breakfast was superb. The food was delicious and piping hot, the cocktails were delightful and breakfast was excellent. The staff were all so friendly, extremely polite and welcoming. It was a pleasure staying there. "

"This apartment is in the heart of the old part of Hereford, in a pedestrian zone with a lot of character. It is spacious and bright. It is on the third floor, so there are a lot of stairs to deal with (no lift), but if you're in OK shape it's not a problem. The only real complaint I have is the the double bed mattress is extremely soft. I would definitely go back. The town is beautiful and walkable."
