"Great hotel with excellent restaurant and staff. It’s about a 25 min walk to town along the coast, passing by Moai. Only addition would be screens in doors so you can leave them open at night for cooler air."

"The location is beautiful and close to everything. The hotel is older and needs some upgrades, but clean and the staff is wonderful. Everyone is very nice and helpful. The breakfast is good and you can get cold and hot water all day long for tea or coffee. Also they can help you with booking tours around the island. All in all it’s been a great experience."

Typical moai - toppled sometime before the arrival of westerners, most likely during civil wars on this resource-starved island. There is a large town site here, though all that remains are stone foundations and cave huts.

This site was part of a south coast tour led by an Australian named Bill, the husband of the lady that ran our B&B. Bill came to the island in 1992 as construction manager for Kevin Costner's film Rapa Nui, and became so enchanted that he decided to stay. He was an entertaining tour guide - witty, helpful, energetic and opinionated. He shared his take on island history

"It's the best place to stay if you appreciate the silence and you're looking for a quiet place because is far from the town and very close to Puna Pau and that makes that at night you can see the stars so clearly. The staff is so kind and makes your stance there so enjoyful. The taste of the breakfast is fresh, natural and so delicious and also the proportion is enough. The room is so big for one person and perfect, in my perception, for two persons. A great experience for sure, if I come back to the island I'll stay there for sure! "

"Great location. The hotel is nondescript and has no signage indicating its presence. Very good breakfast. You’ll hear lots of bird sounds there including roosters that start their cries very early in the morning. There are other residences around the hotel, so you’ll hear their sounds as well, including their late-night music and banter. "
