"D Canal was the highlight of our hotel stays in Sri Lanka. The decoration at the hotel was beautiful and unique. The chef made his own Mango, papaya and lime jam which was to die for. It was definitely the tastiest breakfast we had during our trip. The pool was very relaxing and the staff couldn’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. There is a free tuk, tuk to and from the property from 10am to 7pm which was very generous. I wish we had stayed longer and will definitely be returning. "

"This a nice property with staff that tries very hard. Pros- we started with a really nice welcome drink and our room had an awesome view (very small deck) and a very comfy bed with nice pillows. The shower works well and has a lot of hot water. The pool is lovey. Great yoga room and yoga instructor. We went for a massage and that was delightful, the masseuse is wonderful. "Sweet place to stay…right on the beach! Turtles were there…surrounded by tourists! The staff were friendly and kind. Obs not luxury but for a cheap time on the beach very good! Outstanding curry at The Bistro "

"Very friendly staff and helpful manager. Sri Lankan breakfast was amazing. Room (deluxe) very large and provided extra bed for kids. Short 10 min walk to galle fort. Room very clean and great housekeeping. Pool towels provided. Some minor maintenance issues could do with addressing around pool (tile grouting). "

"Didn't know what to expect when we booked way back 6 or 7mths ago. It's a shame we only had 2 nights... could easily spend longer. Hotel, is clean and spacious with staff very friendly with nothing being too much trouble. Our room is great, plenty of space, with views from the balcony over the harbour or the small hill to the nearby secret beach. Ideally located for Marissa beach or the whale watching kick of point... both in very easy walking distance. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby,...

"The rooms are lovely in this little boutique hotel, it is located at the top of Gaul fort and easy to park and find. The staff are very good and helpful. They make good coffee. We didn’t eat here other than a dessert but the quality was good. The restaurant is small though and there are no other facilities but for a comfortable room you can’t go wrong "

"Lovely hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Located a few minutes from the beach and lots of lovely restaurants. Rooms are a great size. Only negative was a very noisy peacock living close by, but we had ear plugs so it didn't disrupt our stay. Great breakfast with lots to choose from. "
