"Liked hotel, lovely old fashioned atmosphere and spacious rooms. Had to change room due to unacceptable lumpy mattress. New room mattress was better but still needed to be upgraded or replaced. This one issue spoiled what was otherwise an excellent hotel. "

"Very clean room (8a) and what seemed to be a newly refurbed bathroom. Good selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Decent biscuits and even some sweets ! Good selection of beers in the bar and good food. the bar has a proper pub feel which is nice. Very good breakfast menu (included in my room) friendly service and best of all, a request that patrons don't use mobile phones in the breakfast room. I have stayed here before and will do so again. I suggest that you, dear reader, stay here too. "

Rooms can be a bit quirky and floors abit uneven but the building is 400 years old.Faclities in the rooms were modern and what you'd expect. Continental breakfast is included but with a good range of options but no cooked breakfast. Having said that the evening menu looks typical pub rather than restaurant fare but the use of quality ingredients in the hands of a cook who really knows and...

"Although we arrived later than anticipated the staff could not have been more helpful. The polite young man on duty showed us to our room and explained everything we needed to know. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, having everything we needed for our stay, including a comfortable bed. Our evening meal was excellent, with a varied menu to choose from. Breakfast likewise was very good. We cannot speak too highly of the inn."
