"Very welcoming staff so that was a great first impression. Very well presented accommodation. Great shower. Plenty of beverages and having a sofa too in the evening was a bonus. Enjoyed some good food in the pub along with a very drinkable bottle of red. Great atmosphere. Bed was very comfortable. It is only self serve continental breakfast of cereal, yoghurt and toast. But price we paid was ok for that. Bad points - road was noisy but ear plugs sorted that out. Also need an eye...

"Generally very good. Only negative issue was road noise. The windows are old sash style and block no road noise whatsoever and resulted in very little sleep - but I'm a light sleeper. Take earplugs and you'll be fine."

"Wonderful experience staying a Standbrook Abbey. Great to see around the historic features of the hotel. The room upgrade was massive with 4 poster bed and roll-top bath as well as a 2 person shower. Had afternoon tea as well as an evening meal and really enjoyed both. "It is a bit of a mixed bag review - the staff and catering were good but the accommodation is not as shown on the web site - the room was small and the bathroom smaller yet. a cupboard in reality. the carpet leading to the bedrooms needed a good clean or replacement which made the whole place look scruffy and dated yet the bar and restaurant quite cosy."
