You definitely want to stay in Sairee part of the island as all the evening activities are up this way and short walk and get a moped for all the viewpoints and other beaches you can see in the day. "Perfect for our stay. Close to the main area but a bit back so lovely and quiet. Nice big room, plenty of seating. Nice pool, sometimes had a dive school but they only used one half of the pool leaving the other half. Staff very friendly. Not 5* but it's not 5* prices, great value for Koh Tao. We stayed 12 nights and were very happy."
