"I loved staying here because the bed was comfortable, there was special soap and shampoo in the shower room and toilet, the staff were mostly friendly and courteous. Getting there was difficult by public transport I would say but there's a great Carvery next door. My double room was spacious with a fine telly (although the controls took some getting used to! - as I'm an older person but not old) I would definitely consider returning. There were no chests of drawers but I didn't mind - hangers...

"A country home feel with hotel style rooms make this a peaceful stay. Off the beaten track but within a short drive to some alternative restaurants make this a decent overnight option. We selected this so we could visit York and yet be ‘in the country’. Room was basic but comfy. One note. Many doors around give access to the car park - but they are only marked emergency exit and you have to walk in / out of the main doors. Inconvenient with luggage. "

"The George is very good value and in a great central spot in Selby. Big room but it is a little tired. Excellent breakfast each morning with lovely cold buffet and hot breakfast to order. The bed was extremely comfortable -one of the best mattresses we've slept on away from home. Our room was directly above the bar though and it is very, very noisy until the bar closes.
