"This is a great hotel. Friendly staff, excellent food and lovely location by the river side make this an ideal spot to unwind. Dinner was outstanding. Breakfast is free and it’s not some stale bread and weak tea. You have choices including full English. We are from the US and we shall be back. It’s that good!"

"Very comfortable stay with a wonderful breakfast in an old and well kept pub. The room was very clean, roomy and cosy. Bathroom worked well and had hot water always. The staff were kind and helpful. We had two days where there was no breakfast because it was Christmas and they discounted those two nights but also provided some oatmeal tubs for us and extra bits for the morning which we appreciated. "The stay was fine, upon our arrival our meeting was " fill in the form, follow the arrows to your room" What I expected was " welcome to the royal, your room is on the third floor and arrows point out the way, do you require assistance with your bags" The room was clean but the mirror was in the wrong place as there was no lights for makeup application. The hotel is under refurbishment so allowance must be made. One complaint is: we were the only guests and we went out and our room was not...
