"We had never been to Ghana and liked the sound of staying at a Cultural Center and Hotel. Akpe was not a standard American hotel, but it was amazing in many ways. Safety was never a concern, even while walking around the village during all times of the day. The hotel is a few blocks from the beach, but we really enjoyed walking through the village, mingling with the shop owners and meeting the people on the way to the beach. The beach was stunning and we really enjoyed our time in and around the beach, where there were lots of locals enjoying themselves as well. At the hotel, every meal was 5 stars from the Chef, James. And Samuel, who was the property overseer of sorts, was a wise older gentleman that we talked with for hours and he showed us the village. Everyone was kind and welcoming throughout the village and at the hotel. We also interacted with local children, and made a special connection with Isaac, in particular. We are remaining in contact with him even today. Our only complaint was regarding the roads to get to Kokrobite from Accra. The trip from Accra was 28 Km, but it took over an hour to arrive. This should also be a consideration if you plan to take any day trips during your visit. Factor in extra time because of the roads and not being in a central location. "

"The hotel is OLD. Very dated in all aspects of construction and decor. But kept in good repair and very clean. Personally, I love the quaintness of the entire experience. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and polite! I feel at peace and at home here! I would highly recommend for short or long term stays. One last note. Bring some mosquitos repellent just to be safe. There are not a lot of mosquitoes. But enough to get your attention. At least, the few I dealt with, got mine. Repellent made for comfortable night sleep. "

"Somewhere nice is fantastic. A really, really excellent hostel. The layout of the rooms and communal areas was great. Lots of space, good, wide ranging internet, airy rooms, good facilities. The success of good design and aesthetic is that it facilitates the community within. Everyone was so happy and gregarious, everyday friendships were formed and forged and expanded upon. The breakfast is incredible. So much fresh fruit, fresh baked bread, pancakes, eggs, porridge, nice coffee. The breakfast staff are wonderful. They always checking ones needs and are happy and singing with beautiful voices. I guess the most wonderful aspect are the staff. They are fantastic. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, great conversationalists and caring to a fault. Whilst i stayed a lovely young man had a bad bout of malaria and the staff helped him to the hospital, took him food and sat by him. I was really moved by this. I have worked in this industry for over 20 years and struggle to remember such acumen, professionalism and kindness. Like many i extended my stay and will return after further peregrination within the country."
