"This is a really, really lovely hotel. It is a little bit of a step back in time, but in a lovely way. A really grand building that has been well kept whilst it is still possible to imagine how grand it would have appeared to people when first built. It made me smile whenever I was walking around it. I was there on business, but Carlisle seems like a very interesting place ... I will be back to both Carlisle and the Crown and Mitre!"

"I really enjoyed my stay here. I was travelling for business so had little time for site seeing but the area was beautiful. Hotel was spotlessly clean and the food was amazing. Considering it was double would.not expect bathroom to.have a small.cloakroom size sink with no where to put anything and shower cubicle not spacious . Bed comfy. Felt we got short straw on room . Bar feels odd having to register for a table to sit inside and felt conducive to a warm welcome. Chose not to eat in pub "
