Quaint hotel - I felt was like a film Set from a bygone era .. hotel built 1833, great staff / Attentive / quiet and wilderness around Rooms small but had all needed in Restaurant large and quality of food good ! Happy to come back

We have stayed at Shap Wells many times, this visit proved as good as previous ones. We had a nice comfortable room and a very good evening meal, the following morning we had a very good breakfast. Before leaving we walked along the stream to see the red squirrels and they didn't disappoint, several were running around. Shap Wells has a great location, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly staff.

Bed comfortable,room nice,staff wonderful facilities very good all in all a lovely relaxing stay.our one slight complaint when we were dining in the window seats we noticed a large amount of spiders webs on the inside of the windows,(just needs a feather duster for 5mins every now and then)

Staff very friendly in all departments, food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Room although on the small side was adequate, however some areas hadn’t been cleaned to a reasonable standard. The downstairs areas were very clean and had been updated.

In the middle of nowhere this busy hotel is managed by limited staff that seem to have great passion for your enjoyment at heart It's a great base to explore the area but transport is essential. Close to the motorway makes it easily accessible and situated in a small woodland keeps it quiet and peaceful The hotel itself is moderate but clean and well presented with good parking although the acees roads to the property are a little narrow and potholey. The restaurant menu is a bit limited but food is good on the hole with a well stocked bar and cosy bar area I would certainly stop again when visiting the area !

The hotel is remote and access roads are full of pot holes...take it slow! The hotel is dated and overpriced. The bedrooms are small and very tired looking. The bathroom wasnt clean and needs to be replaced. For one night it is ok, especially after a long drive, if you like 70/80's decor then this is for you.

Tired hotel. Avoid at peak times with kids/ dogs
Quite old fashioned hotel . Lovely inside and grand however rooms quite dated and tired in places. Bathroom especially dated and no luxuries at all. The hotel had a coach party in and service was quite slow. Luckily had some drinks in car as no service and no dogs allowed in bar area ! Wouldnt recommend for single parent with kids. Staff were helpful when asked and had time but unable to see to everyone. Compared to other hotels for.same money would not.use again . Breakfast was great and really enjoyed it. Small selection but nice.
