"Hotel Sol is an excellent choice to stay when visiting the Panajachel area. Unlike many other places in the area, the building is secure, very clean, the rooms are big, the shower (hot and cold water) actually works, and the staff are attentive and helpful. Although the hotel is in the periphery of Panachel, for less than $1 (5 quetzales) you can hop into a tuck-tuck and go anywhere in Panajachel. I have stayed in several places in the area and Hotel Sol is my number one choice."

"We booked Hotel Victoria, but when we arrived there was no one at the reception. People on the street redirected us to the next hotel, Posada Gutierez, as apparently was under the same chain/owner. We were offered accommodation at another (3rd location) within a villa that looked like it was still under construction. "Nice accommodations and great view! Good location. It's centric and other places are at walking distance or by renting a "Tuc-Tuc" (motorcycle taxi). Right beside the dock where boats leave to other places around the Lake. "

"This was such a delightful surprise after 2 weeks of travel. I'd stayed at other hospedajes closer to the lake, but wanted something a bit more quite, and this was definitely it! The rooms ate simple and beautiful. The shower was onenof the nicest I've seen, and it's the perfect budgetary point. The bed was also comfy and I had a great time talking with the staff. I will definitely be back!"

"The hotel was pretty basic, but it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The area around it was safe to walk around, and there were plenty of places to explore. Unfortunately, there was a late-night party at the hotel, and the music was so loud that it even reached our room on the third floor. It made it hard to sleep, but we managed to get through the night."
