The inn is as charming as the Seiko the owner, a sweet lady who treats you more as family than a customer. A very affordable option for the area."

"We had a good stay at Furuhata, but there were a few inconveniences. The onsen was fantastic—nice and hot, perfect after a long day of skiing. Towels and kimonos were replaced daily, which was a great touch, and beds were made every two days. The price was reasonable, and the shuttle to the ski resort was convenient. However, there was no shuttle into town, bus station or train station and taxi options were nonexistent, which made getting around a bit tricky. There were only a few restaurants...

Hotel customer service was out-sourced and I had to talk to someone out of Japan that did not know anything about the hotel or roads in the area. After about 2 hours of back-and-forth via emails, they finally provided a number to the actual hotel, but the language barrier was a challenge. "If you are looking for an easy access to the mountains at a good price it is the place to go. The room was very clean and the mattress very comfortable. We had a room w/out bathrooms so we used the common bathroom and it was very clean and organized, they provided you with towels, shampoo, conditioners and soap like any hotel bathroom would. They also have a laundry room where soap and dry sheets are available to be used for free. The only down size for me was the internet in my room was on and...
