The room was small and old, the futon mattresses you use to make your bed were thin and I woke up achy every day. The staff were helpful and friendly with limited English. "Staff were lovely and very clean. Could hear the person next door snoring. Didn't like how you coudn't have a shower in the morning and communal bathroom not available till after 3pm. "

To avoid an absurd taxi fare, catch the local train to Shiozawa and arrange for the property owner to pick you up at the station. That aside, the property itself is very basic, but also charming. Owner is absolutely lovely. Location has outstanding views, and the back of the building directly faces a ski lift. As long as you're not expecting much from the place, it is more than sufficient for a quick stay."
