Beautiful place for breakfast, Chinese breakfast did not suit my wife but great coffee and orange juice, i think they own luckin coffee next door. "Other than the fact that no one was there when I arrived and I had to call and wait for them, things were great. The hot water also took a while to arrive and didn't last long. But the staff were helpful and the location was close to most of what you want to see in Pingyao."

"The hotel is lovely, in a traditional courtyard-style house. It is beside the north gate, just inside the ancient town, so the location is great. Alice was fantastic, collected us from the train station and gave us lots of tips on places to visit and eat. We had a great two-night stay, highly recommended!"

"The place is located at South Avenue within the ancient city, near to Pingyao South Gate, or 15min walking distance from Small South Gate (alternative, take buggy for 10yuan). The signage for Hongyuyuan hotel was not obvious, it is easier to find using address. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The place is an ancient building, do not expect perfect heating during winter. Food and massage are nearby, is very convenient. The hotel have an restaurant, the food is not bad"

"The room we stayed in was nice. It was very dusty in Pingyao. I asked for clean towels on the second day of our stay because they were dirty. It was an awkward conversation, clearly they did not want to provide clean towels. In the end they didn’t and we were left to use dusty dirty towels."

"We got here via overnight sleeper train from Xi'an. This hotel has an outdoor courtyard typical of the ancient homes, with charming decor. The hotel restaurant was good, as were some others nearby.
