"Our three night stay was a highlight of our three week Japan visit. The staff was so kind and so friendly. Especially Iyaka and Ling. Our room was large and the western beds were comfortable. The shuttle bus was very convenient running from the Kiso train station to the property. The meals were delicious. This was our first stay at a ryokan. The food was served with an explanation and instructions on how to handle the hot pots and mini table grill. We enjoyed wearing our cotton yukatas and slippers to the meals. It really changes the dining experience and brings it to another level. The onsens were very clean and enjoyable. We used both the indoor onsen which we reserved for private use and the outdoor onsen. Sitting under the stars, soaking in the rock lined onsen after a day walking the Nakasendo Trail is an experience I'll never forget!"

"We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there and back took a lot of time though, so our 1-day trip seemed a bit too short."

Miyama Ouan rooms are very comfortable, warm, beautifully cleaned, with private and public onsen. The Hirayu location is in close proximity for bush walking, sight seeing, and to the cable car and bear ranch. "

"Very friendly staff. Convenient in its location with a good price. One point though - I arrived without a dog... It let's for us since after all as much as it is clean it's still a place with dog standatds cleanliness... Also, I haven't reserved food and there are no restraints around the existing shop has very limited non-dog food. But I liked the place 🙂 it was cute and as I mentioned the staff were very nice and helpful."
