"The hotel is dated which needs refurbishment. But the amenities offered were good. The Japanese style room we stayed was spacious which can fit in 7 futons. We had half board during our stay. The food served were amazing and looked beautiful which was beyond our imagination. Though the property itself offers only smoking rooms, we as non-smokers didn't find it a problem at all. And parking is free. We would definitely recommend it."

"The staff speak English or Mandarin hence communication was a breeze for me. They were very friendly, helpful and polite. The location of the ryokan is within walking distance to the town and close to the train station. Hotel provides a bus shuttle to the train station. From the train station to the hotel, there is also a complimentary ride. I had a very pleasant stay at the ryokan and highly recommend it. "

"I came to Gero on a recommendation from a close friend. I somehow missed it when I had done a previous Takayama trip and I am glad I came back. The town is very small and the hotel is easily walkable from the station, some people say 15 mins but it was more like 8-10 mins and that was while stopping to take pictures of the Hida river. "A cozy homey ryokan just 3-minute walk from the Gero train station, the location is excellent. The meals were delicious and the service was impeccable. The room, however, was a little dated. The insulation wasn’t good so it could be a little chilly at night when it was snowing outside. The outdoor onsen was enjoyable. I will definitely come back next time I visit Gero. "

"NO TATTOOS. Is the first sign you see when checking in. Perhaps if you have a small discrete tattoo, they will still permit you to use their hot-baths on site. Ideal for couples, seniors, less so for families with children. The beds were quite hard. The in-room food service was very good, as was the breakfast buffet. Both indoor and outdoor onsen was very nice, with the outdoor one having a nice view of Gifu Castle. "

"This was a very memorable place that I visited. It is in the rural area of japan, you can really feel the realness of the area. It's in gifu however it's definitely not a tourist trap area. "Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"The hotel was larger than what I expected. I was told there were limited time to check in, if I missed the time I might need to check in the next day, so I thought the hotel was very small. But it was a bit complicate to change elevators to locate the restaurants and different onsens. There were free parking and the parking lot was quite close to the hotel building."
