"Absolutely wonderful room- king bed with private hot spring bath ( room 1127). Wonderful amenities, goodies, drinks in fridge, etc. spacious, clean, well appointed. Half board very fun! Discount tickets for Edo Wonderland. So much fun!! Only 30 minutes to Nikko sightseeing- we had a private driver take us around for the day. Highly recommend 3 nights! One to rest up, one to spend the day at Edo Wonderland, one to enjoy NIKKO. Very relaxing with history and culture, we really enjoyed this area!...

"Breakfast was nice! Not like the old days, but good. Dinner, ok, but prime rib needs consume gravy. Bit more flavor, but for buffet and organization, service, excellent. Still in great condition, at least in our tower on 8th floor. Onsen nice but water tepid outside, could be tad warmer inside."

We had to walk about five minutes on an unpaved road to reach the "entrance," where we then had to take a lift to the reception. 2. "The food, atmosphere, and super friendly staff definitely make this place to return to. Staff was always friendly and very, very accommodating even with our limited Japanese vocabulary. Definitely the highlight of our trip for sure!"

"Thank you Nikko Hoshinoyado- we had a wonderful Japanese experience in Nikko and at the hotel. We are sorry we don’t speak Japanese, and that made little things challenging a bit. We wish we knew that for a best experience we should have booked dinner at the hotel because we did not find a single suitable place to eat within walking distance of the hotel (October 18, 2024). So we did not have dinner that night. Breakfast, on the other hand was fantastic. We also loved the Onsen experience....

"This ryokan is in a beautiful location. Mr. Toshi went above and beyond to provide us excellent hospitality, a meal, and even showed us around Shiobara region and drove us to our bus stop. He was so helpful and caring to my family. The food, onsen, and rooms are wonderful."

"The worst experience for check in as they messed up our booking - wrong unit number and code were informed, and it was for another Rakuten stay, not this facility! The facility is new, a huge living & dining area compare to Nasu where we stayed a year ago. Too many huge bugs in the balcony, lots were dead already but not cleaned… narrow parking area and the aisle "

Reminder of good old buffet days!

"The Hotel is very historic and designed by our favorite architect Frank Lloyd Wright…you can see clearly his influence.We only stayed one night out from Tokyo by Shinkansen.A short taxi to the temple and shrine in wooded surrounds was great and impressive.We treated ourselves to the fine dining/silver service menu for dinner and I did breakfast on the verandah type room while Julie slept in.Too windy..a gale ..and the Shinkansen’s stopped running so the trip back to Tokyo was twice as long..say 3 hours.Memorable trip to the Kanaya and Nikko itself.Wonderful location."

"The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We appreciated the very comfortable beds after a long day of traveling and the convenience of the community kitchen and laundry facilities. The hotel is just a quick taxi ride from the station. We enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay again should we be in Nikko. "

Lovely Hot Spring Hotel!
