"If you want more of a homey feel, I would definitely recommend this place! It was a 5 min walk to the train station and a 2 min walk to a convenience store. We stayed on the second floor of the apartment so you do have to be mind full. 1 room had a bed and the other room has a couch/bed and a futon. 3 heaters so you won’t feel cold if you go during the winter. "Space is tight, so it's hard to keep clear. (1Near to train station. Hardly any cars, however floors are too thin, can hear upstairs guest moving luggage. Quiet neighborhood, surrounded by 24hr convenient stores and 3 supermarkets. Quite a bit dining options although they are far apart."

"This is not a normal hotel. It is a small apartment with cooking hot plate, microwave, washing machine/dryer. Typical Japanesebth and shower, in room airconditioner. About a 10 minute walk to Kokubunji Train Station. All directions in room are in Japanese. So you will need a translation app. Also office staff has very limited English and they use a translation app too. You will get a feel for living in Japan with a small grocery store about a 3 minute walk. Enjoy."

"Shimokita Stay has been the best VRBO experience I have had in many trips to Tokyo. The cozy apartment is nicely designed and well-equipped; we didn't have to buy anything like we normally do. It's fairly roomy by Tokyo standards, with more closet space than we normally find, and has a lovely, private patio. The host, Mari, is friendly and very responsive.
