"The hotel exceeded our expectations particularly in terms of cuisine. The breakfast, the al a carte menu and the dinner buffets were excellent. The staff were friendly and very attentive and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The views from the rooms & the restaurant were majestic. The roof top bar was a plus but the rainy weather interrupted our use of the facility. All in all a perfect two day stay and I highly recommend this boutique hotel for visitors to Kandy. "

"Lovely historic hotel, yet sadly long overdue for a major renovation. Upgraded to a suite (thank-you), yet broken air conditioner that staff tried to fix with a broomstick/leaking ceilings in various rooms (dangerous on floorboards)/light bulbs broken & not replaced/dangerous electrical PowerPoints/shower mechanism broken & fell Off & hot water tap itself overheats & liable to burn. "This hotel was perfectly located in Kandy for a short visit and the staff were very friendly and helpful on the reception The aircon didnt work in our room which meant it was very stuffy. The room was comfortable but could have a little TLC to make it better. Great to be so close to the lake and easyto get tuktuks outside. "

"This hotel has spacious rooms and lovely windows to look over the city. What was absolutely outstanding was the customer service and genuine care from staff. We needed to extend our stay on our day of check out after being hospitalised in kandy. The staff organised everything and even waited until we were discharged from hospital at 1230AM to hand deliver us our room key and make sure we got in safe. "

"We had an incredible stay at Rusty Bunk Villa, which comfortably accommodated our group of six. A very classy place

"Taru Villas backs onto the railway, which is absolutely charming, watching the odd train come by while eating dinner on the terrace. The joy of the place is that it's an oasis in the middle of town - don't let reviews put you off that say it's noisy as when it comes to bedtime we did not hear a thing from our room with the ceiling fan on. It's location means it's just a £3 tuktuk from all the main sights. The service is second to none, nothing is too much trouble and when arriving/returning, the GM ensured we were properly hosted throughout and we were made teas and little snacks on the house. The dinner, which was included, was delicious, but for me it was the breakfast that was standout - don't miss it! Also the rooms would work well for families with a child as each room has a day bed which converts."
