"Lovely stay. Super friendly and hospitable staff. Room was very comfortable and looked brand new. Pub is lovely with great beers, and fabulous service. It was a perfect stopover for us from the south on our way up to York. Not too far from the M1 but right in the heart of the beautiful Derwent Valley. only 2 things that would have made it better (for us)... 1. a little more 'fresh' options on the menu - lots of the food was 'brown and fried' which is fine for a pub, but a few more healthier...

Beverley is a wonderful host and from the moment she greeted us was full of advice, and tips to make our stay more comfortable. The bed was so comfortable I crashed out and didn’t stir at all. "My stay at the Goat House was magical. The decor and the whole ambiance were superb as was the service. Samantha was very welcoming and extremely helpful. I arrived somewhat later than expected. I was on my way to a function which was further away than anticipated. Samantha kindly offered to take me there and collect me afterwards. This made the whole evening far more enjoyable for me as i didn't have to worry about driving and maybe getting lost. Breakfast was brought to me in the morning...

"The pillow cases and duvet covers smell so bad. Nobody cares if you are sleeping or not because someone was playing music at 1am and there is another guy making calls and running up and down the house 2am. "
