"The hosts were incredibly kind and willing to accommodate us. The area was quiet and surrounded by nature. You fall asleep to the sound of frogs croaking in the distance and wake up to bird-song. "This must be the best place to stay in Knysna. I agonized about whether to stay here or closer in town and I definitely made the right choice. Everyone in ZA seems nice but the St James is beyond nice. It really is lovely to come back to a place where people go above and beyond. Great breakfast overlooking the water without the crowd. A MAZE ING

"We booked Roseroc for one night at the last minute based on reviews and we were NOT disappointed. Kevin, our genial host is a mine of information. He suggested a great restaurant you could walk to although we drove and other interesting things to do.The breakfast was fantastic. We recommend the "Roseroc" poached egg. I will try to recreate this at home. We would not hesitate to recommend Roseroc. I'm not sure quite how my wife found this little gem nestled away but she must be amazing too."

Disappointing stay, not value for money :(

"The stay was disappointing for a 4-star hotel and felt overpriced for the value and service you get. The sharp mildew smell from the kitchenette basin table top in the bedroom amd the closet behind the shower was unbearable. It seems the aircon also leaks onto the wood. The front door handle was loose as if broken before, which made us uneasy with the intense website warning of potential trespassers. Security at the entrance gate was very friendly, but didn't once scan/record a driver's/car license. Alot of the lady staff have attitude and should go on a friendliness / hospitality etiquette course. "

Nice new hotel

"Loved the location, modern design and beautiful view from the elevated pool terrace. Standard room was nicely decorated, neat and functional but it was very very tiny with no space to move by the bed and no space for a chair and the patio was internal with no view. This was a bit disappointing for the money. Suites looked wonderful though if your budget can stretch to that."

Getaway stay

"Stayed here for a wedding. Our room had an enclosed patio but it opened into a corner during a large street celebration which was quite loud. I would have preferred almost any other room in the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful and called me when I had left a few things behind. "
