Of the 26 charming duplex cottages in the gated Mokuleia Beach Colony, only five actually face the ocean; and this is one of them! You’ll wake to the sound of waves, sit on your open lanai and see nothing but aquamarine water and morning sky. The ocean is right there in front of you, just a few steps away. This beach bungalow was designed in the 1960s and has been decorated by a Hawaiian-born artist, whose paintings of the Mokuleia ocean, sky and landscape hang on the walls.
- THE BEACH -
The Sand Dollar Cottage offers a stunning view of a beach that stretches for miles in either direction; ideal for swimming, walking and snorkeling in the coral reef. You rarely see anyone and have warm water, day and night!
- THE NEIGHBORHOOD -
A twelve minute drive down a country road will take you to the famous surfing town of Haleiwa; where you can dine in one of the many restaurants and shop for clothes, local art, shave ice and fresh fish, steaks and produce. The Colony has a beautiful guest-only pool and five minutes up the road towards Ka’ena Point, there’s kite surfing and skydiving.
- FROM THE OWNERS -
The home has more return guests than any other in our inventory, but after years of 5 star ratings it has recently received some critical reviews. The owners have taken these to heart and have addressed all maintenance issues in the house. Below is a word from the owners:

Aloha to all of our longtime guests. Wanted you to know we spent a couple of weeks in March renovating and restoring 13B. It needed it. You'll find a new kitchen: counters, cabinets, sink, faucet and a new glass-top stove. We also painted the unit, put in a new, higher vanity, sink and faucet, and new outdoor lighting. We restored all the louvers and jalousies that needed it and even added a more powerful modem for better WiFi. We left the ocean view and sunsets alone since no one could improve that.

Smoking strictly prohibited at Mokuleia Beach Colonies, both indoors and outdoors and pets are not permitted on the property. Service animals are permitted only with prior approval of the Mokuleia Beach Colony board. The State of Hawaii prohibits smoking in public parks and at all beaches. There are no areas near the unit designated for smokers. These bans include e - cigarettes.

Nice ocean side cottage
We really enjoyed being where we could relax. The cottage and the surrounding area was perfect, getting us away from traffic but leaving us easy access to the things we wanted to do. We would definitely rent again if we make it back.

A hidden piece of paradise
This is a hidden gem in Mokeleia. The location is amazing. You are literally beachfront with the ocean crashing in front of your lanai. If you are looking for peace and quiet with an incredible view and the sound of waves, this is the place for you.

The property is well maintained, the landscaping is gorgeous and it is very quiet and peaceful. Sand Dollar Cottage is located directly oceanfront. The cottage itself is very simple and clean. The view from your lanai, the stars at night and the sound of the ocean is magnificent. We've stayed here 5 times and can't wait to come back!

Amazing!
Cottage was PERFECT! Location is great if you want a peaceful vacation. 10-15 minute drive into Haleiwa. The pool was a nice change from the ocean, everyone on the property was kind. Very low key. You are literally ON the water, at low tide you can walk the beach right out front. We would go down the steps and walk a few minutes to the left where the water was clear and swim. Lots of turtles right outside. Beach chairs & the bbq were used often! We will definitely come back to this location!!

Beautiful property
This place is exactly what we like. It's quiet. The ocean is right out the door. There aren't any crowds. You feel like the little slice of beach is all yours. The house was clean when we arrived. It has all the amenities needed to feel right at home. For coffee drinkers, bring ground coffee with you to the house. It is a standard Mr Coffee maker and there were plenty of filters already there. This property was a wonderful place to stay.

Reviewer Comments: Quiet, great view, with well equipped kitchen and plenty of staples ie paper products etc.Our one suggestion is that the floors be more properly cleaned before the arrival of new guests as they were not clean when we arrived.Also, we had no direction to actually locate our cottage when we first arrived, but after hit and miss we found ur!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental management company was very helpful and courteous. I called a couple times with questions and Anna got right back to me. The Sand Dollar was located in a very quiet, well kept residential complex. The view out the kitchen door was absolutely fantastic! The apartment itself was VERY dated, had rusty kitchen appliances, and broken inside louvered shutters(not what we were expecting for the location).

North Shore Oceanfront
The location and view are fantastic! The best on North Shore. The unit itself is dated. The furnishings are adequate, but need replaced much sooner rather than later and do not properly reflect the great location.The property manager on site only takes care of the common areas and are not allowed to enter the units (or so they told us). The company that collects your money doesn't seem to do much more than that. The owner, at least with us, was uninvolved in anyway. We likely would stay there again solely because of the spectacular view, and just tolerate the rest, I suppose.

The community was beautiful done, being gated made us feel even more secure during our stay. The unit we has is right on the beach and we couldn't have asked for better. We wanted to relax and this was the perfect.place to stay and relax. We had access to the pool but the ocean was what called us. If I could I would buy this unit, that's how much we loved it. Having the constant breeze was amazing. The unit itself was ocean front and well done. We would recommend upgrading the ceiling fan but it worked well, my son just gets overheated easily. All in all we didn't want to leave.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Always enjoy staying at MBC. The Sand Dollar lanai is my favorite place to hang out and enjoy the trade winds and ocean view. It's sad that there is no more beach access because of the water level and the neighboring homes being threatened to wash away. Hope the State can figure out what to do so that the water doesn't get under the seawalls. Just something to be aware of if you want beach access, you will have to drive down the road.

Beautiful location! Can't beat the view. Comfortable furnishings. Everything we needed was right there in the cottage. We loved being able to sit on the patio and just take in the sunrise and sunset and everything in between.
