The hotel was amazing, staff is attentive and helpful. The roads leading to the hotel are steep and full of curves, drive carefully.

Loved this hotel... Its a quiet distance from the main tourist areas but just off the main road leading from the tf1 to Teidi. Its an old 18th century property with very friendly staff. Great leisure facilities that look out towards Gomera and the mountains near Arona.

This property was really amazing. Excellent food. I enjoyed the self serve breakfast which is included. The room (39) was really lovely. Nice bathroom including bath and shower. Bath robes included. Lovely covered balcony. Deep, clean outdoor pool with good loungers and views. Fabulous indoor heated pool and two jacuzzis in fitting with the beautiful 18th century mansion. Well maintained. Excellent well mannered and friendly staff. Air conditioning unit was a little noisy and I think a snack menu for lunch could be a good addition instead of the full evening menu. An option to buy snacks and drinks for when having a pool day i/e crisps, drinks, ice-cream. Nothing major. Just something by reception. And I love nothing more than a cuppa first thing in the morning so either facilities in room or a machine in reception area would also be a nice addition. However these are just personal preferences of mine and I would still rate this hotel as excellent. Car required. Would stay again.

The staff were incredibly helpful. We found the bed uncomfortably firm the first night. However, when we discussed this with the staff, they immediately organised a mattress topper for our comfort. The spa area could use a lick of paint and some of the sun loungers need replacing. But the experience was excellent overall. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff incredibly friendly. However, there is no health club (fitness facilities) at the hotel, only the swimming pools and spa area. And there are no tea & coffee facilities in the rooms. But the hotel and the scenery were fantastic.

Old country hotel with some attractive features in public areas, but the room we stayed in was not comfortable. It needed some modernisation.

Nice, quirky hotel off the beaten track
Stayed here a few times. A very quirky looking hotel with very good facilities, however, I would have appreciated a better WiFi reception and tea & coffee maker in room. Friendly & helpful staff.

Quite mountain retreat.
Gorgeous 18th century hotel in the foot of the Teide Mountain. Hotel is old but quirky and quaint. Hotel staff are friendly and attentive, room is clean and the restaurant serves a combination of Spanish traditions and Italian pasta dishes. Breakfast is continental. Hotel has both an indoor spa pool and an outdoor pool. The hotel is old but has character and the age enhances the hotel's charm. A car is essential as the hotel is a 20 min drive from the purpose built, touristy coastal areas and the main motorway that goes round the island. A drive up over the mountain is a must as the scenery is spectacular taking you through pine forests with picnic spots and through volcanic rock scenes. There is a visitor centre at the top with a cable car to reach the top peak, booking early is essential if you want to use the cable car. A drive to the north side of the island offers a greener side of the island, more traditional towns and black volcanic sandy beaches. I recommended this hotel for people who are looking for something different, away from the crowd. A perfect place for peace and quiet.

Hotel in the hills away from the crowds
A rustic hotel situated at altitude with lots of history and very authentic character. A car is pretty much a must. Parking is easy. Very good restaurant which is not overly expensive. Some may find the rooms rather basic but overall it is very good value for money. Because of the altitude it will normally be a lot cooler than the coast and may even be in the clouds.

Worst decision ever made
The room, not at all comfortable, showed a series of issues (poor lightning, terrible bed, broken bed lamp, cheap furniture, very unpleasant bathroom... ) that convinced me to book in another hotel, for the second night I was supposed to be there. However, what shocked me was the total absence of phone connection. The place is completely isolated and the only way to make a phone call or surf in Internet is through their WiFi system which was never easy to access. The connection was always extremely poor, but luckily was alright in the swimming pool. That's where I booked the hotel for the day after. It was a terrible experience. I did not only waste my money, by staying there I would have had the worst birthday of my life. Ehsg

Excellent rural hotel
The hotel was very nice but a little further up into the hills than expected, excellent breakfast, nice in house restaurant and bar . Indoor and outdoor pools. If you want a rural quiet hotel full of character away from all other amenities then this is for you. It was about a 30 minute driver each way up/ down a tight hairpin roads down to the busy coast. There was a difference of about 7 Degrees in temperature because of the altitude . Overall a great place to stay accessing both sides of the island.

Great place for a peaceful stay
We had a one night stay after taking my Mum to the airport, our fourth visit! A lovely place to stay for a night or two, longer if you like the peace and quiet and walking or have a car to explore the area. A rustic place where the Staff are very friendly and the restaurant food is really nice. I would advise to book only Bed and Breakfast rather than half board as the menu for half board is very limited. We ordered from the main menu and everything was really nice and reasonably priced including wine. Breakfast is basic, adequate for a one night stay. The indoor pool was nice and warm. Spa area closed, I guess only open when a booking is made.

very enjoyable stay in El Nogal friendly staff. No treatments when we were there but think because was early in the season. Would recommend if you are looking for a quiet break. There is a very steep hill to climb up and down if you do not have a car which we didn't. It's ok to go up and down once a day.

Nice hotel up in the hills.
Very helpful staff. Handy for driving to El Teide. We didn't want to stay in a beach resort and this was ideal. Didn't use either pool as we were only staying for a night but both looked good.

Traditional Canarian hotel with character
Interesting place to stay. It felt very Spanish and perhaps a little old fashioned. The staff were all very helpful. It could have been a little bit more comfortable in the bedroom. The balcony was very small so impossible to sit outside. This was a standard room. The plumbing is old and the shower reflected this. The food was good both at breakfast and evening meals. Excellent wine choice. You need a car to stay here. Overall a lovely restful place to stay and we would probably return but book a superior room with a larger balcony.
