About this space
A winter fairly tale. This cabin is situated on a small family estate (Dennenholt), in a beautiful forest, just outside a small village. The area is the largest nature area of north western Europe, called Veluwe, where you can get away from it all. The cabin is an old forest cabin turned into a comfortable suite. Due to its central location and proximity to the motorway network, it is great for exploring The Netherlands (Utrecht, The Hague, Groningen, Amsterdam etc).
The space
When making a reservation from Monday to Friday, or Friday to Monday a discount is sometimes a possibility : ask us about this prior to making the reservation.
The cabin "De Larix" at Landgoed Dennenholt (estate) is elegantly renovated in an English hunting lodge style, with woodpanelling throughout. It is laid out as a studio with half open kitchen. There's a cosy seating area with wood burner, a dining area with dining table, a comfortable bed (160x200, boxspring, firm mattress) and a fully equipped kitchen with 4 gas burners, oven, dishwasher and fridge with freezer section. There is a separate luxurious bathroom with underfloor heating. TV, DVD, wifi and central heating are there for your comfort and entertainment. There's an outside seating area in front of the cabin.
Your stay includes bath towels, bed linen, kitchen towels, shampoo/showergel, and toilet paper, paper towels, and dishwasher tablets for the first days of your stay.
A dog is welcome at a surcharge of €35 for 1 dog or €70 for 2 dogs (please discuss prior to booking in case you're planning to bring more than 1 dog). The costs will not be calculated when filling in you're bringing a dog but you'll be asked for payment during or after your stay.
Please read our house rules with regards to dogs and let us know that you are bringing a dog. We don't accept cats. Please be aware that dogs need to be kept on the leash when outside on the property, because of the free roaming chickens.
We're happy to help with information about the nature areas, hikes and other sights nearby, before or during your stay. Check our travel guide here on AirBnB or don't hesitate to ask!
Guest access
The cabin is set in a small secluded area of the estate, surrounded by lawn, in the middle of woods. We think this is possibly the most magical part of the estate. From the grounds you can walk directly into the forest or have direct access to the road into the village. On the grounds there is another holiday cottage, a keepers cottage and a country house where the owners live. All houses are set in such a way that they have complete privacy. You will share the land, which is fenced off to keep the deer and wild boar out, with some animals. Apart from wildlife outside like wild boar, deer and wolves, you will meet our dog, our 2 donkeys Sam and Frodo who love a cuddle or brush and Thomas the cat, and of course Hermann the rooster and his three hens.
Other things to note
We love well behaved dogs and Jasper is always excited to meet new friends who he will leave alone if they don't warm to him. Dogs are welcome for an additional fee of €35 per dog per stay. Should you wish to bring more than one dog, please contact us first. If you have two large dogs we recommend the bigger cottage instead of this one. Please ask us for our dog policy if you wish. In short your dog should not damage property, it is not allowed on beds and furniture, it should not inconvenience other guests and dog mess must be picked up.
Cleaning
If you stay for more than one week, we would like to discuss an exchange of bed linnen and towels or additional cleaning services.
Local tourist tax of €1,15 per person per night is not included in the price shown by AirBnB and can be paid on site during your stay.
A baby(travel)co and high chair are are available (€15 per stay for the bed with or without high chair). Please indicated when making a reservation, we have only a limited number of babycots. Please bring your own sheets and blankets etc. for the babycot
