HISTORY:
This large three-level Craftsman, chalet style, heritage manor was designed by the famous Canadian architect, Samuel Maclure, in 1912 for a prominent local businessman who was well-known for his interest in the prohibition movement and church, and was president of the YMCA. Two decades ago, the building was converted into seven self-contained suites. The suites all unique from each other ranging from studios, one and two bedroom suites. They all have their own kitchen and bathroom. The manor was known as Trutch Manor Suites, had for many years been Victoria's popular bed and breakfast. The manor is now renamed “Larkspur Manor Suites” to pay homage to our City of Gardens - Victoria. Larkspurs are are old-fashion flowers that come in a variety of shades, with beautiful meanings, most commonly used to symbolize love, affection, strong attachment, happiness, and pure heart. We believe Larkspur beautifully represents our manor in welcoming people from all shades to have a wonderful, happy stay, whether they are here for a special occasion, holiday making, or to reconnect with friends, families, and love ones. As the new owner with years of hospitality experience hosting travelers, business professionals, and international students from all over the world, and as a super host, and premiere host, I am excited and pleased to continue offering this wonderful manor as your home away from home while you are visiting or working in Victoria.
THINGS TO NOTE:
There is a set of stairs leading to the suite and it is not wheelchair accessible. As such, it will be challenging for those with mobility difficulties.
Laundry is at the building in our basement and is coin-operated. You will need 2 loonies (2 $1 coins) each to wash and to dry. Laundry is between 9 am - 8 pm.
If you are bring your furry pet, please obtain permission from host first. Pet fee applies. Must agree to pet rules.
Our 5 year-old dog, Cosmo, a medium-sized Labradoodle, stays with me at the property sometimes. You may see him play outside in the courtyard. If you are nervous around dogs, please let me know and I will limit his presence outside.
We have motion sensor security cameras on the outside of our building which stay on during 24/7. The property was perfect for what we needed. It was clean and well stocked, and the owner was was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Comfortable/Great Location!
We enjoyed our stay! So close to downtown, within walking distance of groceries. We were a little concerned about having our family of four stay in a studio style flat, but it was infinitely more comfortable than a hotel at a fraction of the price. The “master” portion of the flat can be separated from the living area by a curtain, which made for clever and efficient sleeping arrangements. We will definitely look to stay here when we return to Victoria!

Spacious, central, Fairfield suite in a Heritage home
Suite #7 is a Great, central, spacious suite. The large kitchen has everything you need for cooking; the dining table seats 6 to play games at; the living room has a good sized sofa to relax on after a fun filled day around Victoria. And there is also room to securely store you Ebikes too! Thanks Holly for an easy in/out stay & easy communication!! Hope to stay here again 😃

One of the very best vrbo stays we've ever had. The apartment was every bit as beautiful and inviting as the pictures indicated. Holy was wonderful and extremely responsive. Lots of extra amenities to make you feel at home. Nice quiet neighborhood, walking distance to several destinations. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend this property to all of our friends. Thank you, Holly!!!

Fantastic stay!
We can't say enough about this little gem of a place. Unit is exactly as described and Holly included even the little extras, such as wet ones, q-tips, 3 types of coffee etc. The ability to use her garage to lockup our electric bikes was very much appreciated. The unit itself is well laid out, clean, comfortable and well organized in the kitchen. Everything you need for your stay. Already looking to rebook next spring.

Charming Retreat
Victoria is our favorite place to visit. It is as if time is suspended as you wander the neighborhoods and numerous gardens that Victoria and the vicinity has to offer. We have friends that live in this beautiful city and visit quite frequently, so the suite location was perfect for parking the car and walking to our various destinations-restaurants, museums, strolling the bay, Government street, Craigdarroch Castle, Government House--we walked it all! The suite was lovely--plenty of room and very thoughtfully designed. Nice dining area and desk area for the computer and the kitchen was nicely stocked with plenty of counter space. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was wonderfully large! Thank you. The lighting was wonderful as well. In my experience, lighting can be quite lacking in some units. We were very comfortable and delighted with our stay and Holly was a wonderful Host. We definitely will come back next year. Martha

Flood
The second day I was there I woke up to water leaking through all the light fixtures in the bathroom in the bedroom. The pipe head burst upstairs, and so my bed was wet. The floor was wet. It was quite a mess. Eventually some people came to help me and I finally got a hold of Holly and in the end everything was OK but it was very traumatic to be walking around in the water, so I am fully expecting refund of some sort for my seven day stay there.

Excellent!
This studio apartment exceeded our expectations! The floor plan is open, spacious and beautifully appointed. The studio also has parking, a definite plus. Our host, Holly, checked in with us several times to make sure everything was going well. The location is excellent...close to coffee shops, small cafes, markets and the waterfront. It was a great stay. We'll be back! We highly recommend it.
