Cozy Carriage House

Welcome to the Cozy Carriage House! We hope you enjoy your stay here. We travel a great deal ourselves, so we have tried to make this space into somewhere we would like to stay.

This warm and modern space is yours to enjoy after experiencing all that Victoria has to offer. Relax with a glass of wine, cook, or relax in our comfy bed with some Netflix.

COFFEE, TEA, and EXTRAS

There's coffee and tea in the red canisters. The coffee is a nice variety, and is good when it's made in the little French press. There is black tea in sealed sachets in the large canister, and the unlabelled bags in the small canister are lemon herbal tea. There is also green tea in the cupboard. Below the element (next to the fridge) there is an electric kettle. The milk in the fridge is always fresh, and the water bottles are complimentary. Help yourself to whatever snack is on the premises – we try to provide some small granola bars, nuts, or similar, in case you arrive late and feel undernourished…!

CLIMATE CONTROL

Should you feel chilly, there is an extra blanket in the closet, and there's a white heater console on the wall between the fridge and bed. It is pretty self-explanatory, and it heats up quickly. Temperatures are in Celsius (65℉ = 18℃, 72℉ = 22℃, etc…). All we ask is that you don't run the heater and leave the windows open at the same time! (You would be surprised how often this happens?!)

If you are hot, it does usually cool down significantly at night here (no matter the season) but if leaving the windows open is not sufficient, there is also a fan in the closet.

IN THE AREA

At the intersection of Foul Bay and Neil (a 5-minute walk) there is a little cluster of shops, including a small grocery, a cafe/coffee shop (Caffé Misto), a pizza place, and a deli. The deli, Charelli's, has an amazing selection of cheeses and meats and various imported treats. You can get fresh sandwiches made from their supplies at any time, and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there's a take-out window where they make delicious hot sandwiches.

In the other direction, just past Hillside & Shelbourne (15 minutes' walk), is a mall and commercial area with a supermarket (Thrifty Foods), liquor store, fast food, shopping, etc.

A wonderful place to stay!
This cottage house was an excellent choice to stay at while visiting Victoria. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Beautiful yard, which will be even better in summer. I totally recommend this adorable place.

I recently stayed at Matt's charming cottage and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The place was impeccably clean and well-organized, and the garden was simply lovely. Communication with Matt was excellent—he was incredibly responsive and made the check-in process super easy. It’s clear that he takes great pride in being a host. I look forward to staying here again the next time I’m in Victoria. Highly recommend!

Fantastic rental!
Gorgeous alternative to boring, overpriced hotel. Perfectly situated to move son in and out if University, super cute & clean, beautiful grounds with a completely private space. All if this for a very reasonable price, thanks for making our stay in Victoria, super easy and very comfortable!

This beautiful, bright,well equipped, super clean cottage was such a wonderful place to stay. Away from the hustle and bustle,tucked way in a zen like corner,yet close to amenities. Super comfortable bed, nice size shower and so bright and cheerful. The owners are so easy to communicate with and lovely. We will definitely be back !! 💯 recommend this wonderful spot

When in Victoria we love to stay at the Cozy Carriage House. The location is convenient as it is close to arterial roads. Tucked in the gorgeous garden of the main house, the carriage house is a welcoming oasis. As a meaningful addition our dog is welcome. During this stay there were some incomplete maintenance and cleaning tasks, but this did not take away from the comfort of our stay. We will return!

Very clean and cozy. Cute neighborhood. Owner communicated clearly. We got to meet a local deer as we got into our car. 😀 The full-size bed a was a bit small for two…was expecting a queen. Maybe I missed that in the details. The small fridge was fine size-wise, but the ice cream we put in the freezer area was melted by the next day. Could use some sugar in the cabinet. Those are the nit-picks. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again. Thanks!

Cute Cottage
The cottage is very quaint and perfect for a couple or single traveller. The location is great and very accessible to the University and an easy drive to downtown. Unfortunately we did have a couple of issues, the bathroom sink did not drain properly. I had to use the plunger to get it to empty which was unpleasant. The French Press leaked and made a mess all over the counter, once I realized this I had to put a plate underneath it. Finally the quality of the towels was not good, they are very old and scratchy. Definitely need to be replaced.

Cozy Autumnal Retreat
My partner and I had a lovely stay! This tender carriage house was a beautiful retreat during our busy days! It had everything that we needed and more. The skylights covered in fall leaves and the pitter patter of rain was so soothing and added to the entire comforting vibe! Whenever we come to Victoria again we will definitely be staying here again!

Add stated they provided certain items-nothing. Caretaker said they stopped several years ago. Correct adds please. Also add does not state that bed is a double bed--dicey if peopke are tall/big. Previous rating stated mold should be remived from shiwer stall- still there.

A wonderful Cottage retreat surrounded by gardens!
The Cozy Cottage is a gem in the middle of Victoria suburbia! A quiet, well equipped retreat surrounded by magnificent flowers, trees and shrubs! This is not just a room for the night, it is an experience to remember. Sit on the patio deck with a glass of wine, cool breezes, shade and flowers galour! Rest on a comfortable bed or chair, put you feet up and relish the peace and serenity. Close to Victoria’s many amenities… beaches, parks, dining spots, coffee shops, etc. You do need a bike, car or Uber but the effort is worth it. We spent 4 nights at the Cottage and can’t say enough about this experience. Matt is a welcoming host!
