We were able to enjoy being in the country while also being very proximate to cities, towns, wine tasting and other activities, like hilltop hiking. The kitchen was not the most convenient for home cooking for Americans used to a more modern kitchen, but we managed. Our hostess made our first dinner, which was so nice and so delicious. "We chose the hotel because of it's location, 15 minute walk to the train station and bus connecting to the airport. Bus to airport is around 8 euros. Perfectly located to get to the center of the city, too, if you are OK with walking, we didn't take public transportation or taxes, and went all the way to the Castel San Pietro, on top of the hill with the viewpoint. Everything in the hotel was clean and modern, they have bikes that you can borrow for free to get to the center, if you prefer that"
