Private Cabin Nestled Within Protected Forest Overlooking Large Spring Fed Pond!

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING:
Located in Goodwood (made famous by CBC hit show “Schitt’s Creek”,) nestled within the forest sits this private cabin as a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the urban life.

Set back on a private gated property, this is a cabin in the middle of the woods which is 99% protected forest where modifications and development is completely restricted. It overlooks a large spring-fed pond and has open accessible grounds suitable for a picnic and sun-bathing.

Surrounded by majestic trees as well as being an opportune spot for viewing wildlife which include birds, deer, otters, minks, fox, squirrels, chipmunks and of course bugs both at day and night. Perfect spot for one person, couple or more to enjoy the indoors and outdoors.

Also suitable for a small group no more than 6 to celebrate on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversary, etc. (requires approval). No visitors are allowed for safety security and insurance reasons. This is a private property and I also reside on said property 400 feet away in a separate residence. Only the people on the reservation are allowed on the property. If you plan on having visitors please do not book.

There is a designated outdoor fire-pit to safely have a fire. Guests need to bring their own firewood. A barbecue is onsite and guests need to bring their own propane tank for stays longer than 3 nights.

No cameras or other surveillance equipment of any kind is inside or outside of the perimeter of the cabin. However, live camera-surveillance is installed around the perimeter of my private home ONLY which is approximately 400 ft away.

NB: If you are booking for the winter months, please know that the property can ONLY be accessed by All Wheel Drive with Snow Tires or a 4x4 vehicle. Please DO NOT book if your vehicle doesn't meet the basic description for winter stays mentioned herein.

Amazing stay
Was a great break from the city with everything going on. Everything was very clean and cozy. I didn’t even expect to use the fireplace but it was a blessing with the cooler weather we had. The view of the pond was lovely, had great bonfires. Uxbridge and the surrounding area is lovely. Check out the Willowtree Farmers Market. Thanks again Gerry.

A Little Slice of Heaven
My husband and I loved this property. It was definitely the getaway we needed. Gerry was an excellent and friendly host who made sure to cover anything important that we needed to know. He made sure that the cabin was clean and welcoming! If you love the wilderness, peace and quiet and knowing that you have a great host, this is definitely the place for you :)

Great little cabin on a gorgeous secluded property
Gerry's cabin is a great mix of modern (on the inside) and old rustic on the outside, on a really nice secluded property. He was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us everything we'd need. We were out most of the time and it was rainy, so we didn't really get to enjoy the outdoor area much but it would be a great place to relax in nature in better weather. Would happily go again.

A private space for a quiet get away
I was attending a day retreat nearby and wanted somewhere to go after that would be quiet, private, contemplative and allow me to further my personal reflection. This location was perfect. A quiet cabin off of a country road, with a pond, lots of trees and places to sit and admire nature. I also appreciated having a BBQ to cook. Gerry was present to walk me through proper use of the BBQ as well as several of the items within the cabin and rules for country living (septic, driving care on the driveway, keeping garbage secure). He was an attentive host during check in and was flexible with check in time and arrangements. Thanks Gerry!!! The cabin has been renovated/upgraded from the rustic original appearance. There are older model but high end appliances, lots of comfy places to sit, multiple beds (it was hard to pick just one, but I did!!), and high speed internet for TV/internet etc. The easy to use blinds allows you to have full outdoor views or close yourself in at night. The cottage shows well and is a happy surprise/contrast from the older outside exterior. The only constructive comments I would have are regarding the overall cleanliness. The beds and sheets are clean and comfortable which was expected and well delivered. The counters were tidy and clean dish and bathroom towels provided. This said, the cottage would benefit from a deep clean to refresh all surfaces. This was my first VRBO experience and it met my expectations.

Clean cozy cabin
We had a very nice time at Gerry's cabin. The property was very clean and the communication with Gerry, the owner, was excellent. Overall we had a great stay at a relaxing location that is very well cared for.

Very rustic
If rustic is what you are looking for rustic is what you will get. Cabin has all the amenities inside that you will need for your stay. Photos are exact to the inside, however the furnishings are very worn. Beds and linens are comfortable and cozy. Communication with Gerry the host is quick and easy. We spent most of our time exploring the surrounding area as it is beautiful. Be sure to visit Willowtree Farm for amazing food and treats. As well, a short drive to Holland Marsh winery is a must if you enjoy wine. Overall stay was ok, the cabin is in need of a few updates. Including a coat of paint and mowing outside and a very throughout cleaning inside. Gerry cleans the cabin but its in dire need of a clean top to bottom.

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our two year anniversary when we decided to find a small secluded area to unwind and distress. Everywhere was booked, until we found this cabin. It’s perfect for couples who want to unwind mentally and physically with nature surrounding them. The guy was super friendly and informative. The cabin itself is a cute little cabin that gives off a rustic but modern feel, which is what my boyfriend and I like. Would definitely go again.

Wonderful little getaway
This was a great little cabin just outside of the city for a quick breather from 2020. The fire pit and sunset swing were just what the doctor ordered. The cabin is equipped with everything you need for a weekend away. Gerry was great at answering all questions promptly, and we had a lovely time. Definitely planning to come back.

What a great place to unplug, relax and stargaze. With this cabin only being 30 - 40 mins outside of major cities it makes it even a better for locals looking to get away. Definitely stay again.

Great stay at the Red Cabin
We spent a wonderful overnight at the Red Cabin, enjoying the peaceful pond, making a campfire and relaxing as we watched the sun go down and the moon rise. Gerry was a very attentive host, communicating with us to make sure everything was ok.

Quaint rural cottage
Gerry's cabin is a great little getaway if you are looking for a quiet, private location to relax. The beds and pillows were super comfy - we slept well! The extras were lovely too - BBQ, coffee, cream, sugar and spices made the holiday a little more relaxing. Although not important to us, if wi-fi and satellite tv are important for your stay - check with the owner. There was one tv channel and no wi-fi but lots of dvd's. Gerry was very accommodating in both our arrival and departure. We would definitely stay again.
