"Staff is super nice. Hotel is a bit outdated, the rooms can use a decoration refresh but they are big and clean. About a 10 min walk to Gengenbach town centre. Didn’t eat at the restaurant but the vibe looked relaxing. "

"The hotel design is incredible- I hadn't realised that the property had been a prison - unique and interesting and all decoration is to a high standard. Rooms are very comfortable. 1 downside- we arrived late after being delayed due to the most horrendous electrical storm and had called ahead to say we were going to be late and ask if the restaurant would still be open (or we would stop on the way). "Seems like a nice hotel with good spa facilities. We had a non smoking room, but it stank of cigarettes and the bathroom smelt unclean. The hotel staff didn’t speak any English (I no we were in Germany but basic pleasantries would have been nice) so don’t expect any help. Didn’t complain about the smell in the room as unable to make ourselves understood."

"Excellent property. Easy to find & only a few minutes from the town square. Easy walking distance to beautiful river trails. The property was clean, big & easy to access. Nice size bedrooms and excellent shower. Fully stocked kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven etc. Parking space out front. An excellent alternative to a hotel room. Wish I'd stayed longer. Highly recommended."

Apartment 'Ferienwohnung - Karlheinz' with Mountain View, Balcony and Wi-Fi

"Loud people living upstairs. Banging around all hours of the night. Not clean. The ad said there was laundry and that was my #1 search requirement as it was mid trip for us. Saw pics with a laundry in the kitchen. No laundry machine was there just an Empty space. Host said there’s no laundry in town so we all had to hand wash. It was a pain. One couch and nowhere else to sit and visit. Front door lock didn’t work very well. Always felt like I was going to be locked out. Great location just a block from the towns gate. But not worth it. Vrbo should consider delisting unless improvements are made. "

Lovely town with the most accommodating hosts!

"My husband and I, our daughter and grandchildren spent part of a weekend here. The accommodations were perfect for our needs right down to the games and puzzles for the children! The highlight of this stay though was our host. They were extremely accommodating and very communicative. It made everything go very smoothly for us and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. More so than we actually thought, also due to the beautiful little town of Gengenbach! We were able to walk into town on three separate occasions grab a coffee and meander through the streets and shops. They had a Christmas market while we were there which has turned out so far in seven we have visited in our time in Germany, to be my favorite. Please don’t hesitate to stay here and ask any questions that you have. The owners are extremely responsive. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and should we find ourselves in Germany again we would love to come back! "

Villa Villa Beckmann - room for your holidays

"Location of the property is perfect. Walking into town, local restaurants, museums, town square is wonderful. Train station was very close - was an easy 45 ride to Strausburg, France. Grocery store 5 minutes away. Kitchen had everything you need to make meals. Outside patio and upstairs balconies were very cozy. Beds comfortable. We brought our own Firestick for the TV so we would have access to English shows. Easy install. Any directions left by the owners were in German but with Google Lens we could easily translate, same goes for restaurant menus etc. The home overall had loads of Old World charm but the interior decor could use a bit of an uplift. Parking was a bit confusing but we got it worked out with the owners."
