"The villa is really lovely. Giacomo our host was extremely kind and helpful. Plenty of room for the 11 of us girls. You have to really have car as getting taxis as we did was a bit of a challenge. There are no supermarkets close by so a car is essential to buy supplies Some of the beds are a little uncomfortable but the rooms are lovely and very spacious Pisa is less than 20 mins and Lucca is very close too. The restaurant Stefani is a must. Thanks Villa Mari for an amazing holiday!"

"We had a lovely family stay: the views over Lucca, the birds on the wooded hillsides behind, the extraordinary secluded stone pool with steps down for kids, and the picture-postcard drive through Matraia and down to the excellent Esselunga supermarket are hard to beat. We also recommend getting Tamara from Lucca Cooking Classes over for a cooking class in your kitchen, and a meal for all (as well as Le Colonne in the village) The house in furnished in an old family style and our only suggestions...

"This is a truly beautiful house with long views down to Lucca and olive groves all around. It is well-furnished and we slept really soundly. Massimo, the host, is extremely gracious and offers many great ideas for local activities and day trips, and once you find it the local supermarket is very well stocked. "My daughter and I spent a lovely week there. We loved it. If you want a week away from it all you couldn't do better. Most mornings were in the garden just reading in the sun. The small farmhouse is very peaceful with great views. The house is comfortable and everything worked (incl Wifi). It could do with a bit better seating area inside for the evenings, it's ok and you are normally outside. A small point. Lucca is close by and fascinating, worth taking a guided tour. "Spent a restful week with friends in this charming property outside Lucca. Very comfortable and well equipped tuscan villa with fabulous views and wonderful outdoor spaces. Great base camp for excursions to Lucca, Firenze and Cinque Terre. "

"The road up is narrow and a little challenging but so worth the breathtaking views !!! The pool overlooking the hills and the manicured landscaping were top notch! We were close enough to a small town to enjoy the local restaurants good food, groceries and other towns to do day trips as well. The Villa had everything to make our Stay very comfortable. The little cottage allowed us two couples separate sleeping and bathroom privacy."
