"After a few hectic days in Kyoto we started to relax on the 2 1/2 hour train ride to Amino. The hotel shuttle picked us up as previously arranged. The hotel has only 8 bedrooms, all with sea views. The staff are all very friendly and enthusiastic. The food is excellent; we had the Japanese meals but some western dish are available."

"This was our last night away and we had a great night, the room had a hot tub on the balcony facing the beach it was lovely. We also had a tatami room and king size bed which was very comfortable. Fantastic spot."

"really good facility, close to the water front which i love and in between several areas of interest that you can walk to. The showers and baths were an added bonus as we didnt know that it would include the hot bath, really good to come back to that after a long day. Staff was super friendly and there was a music venue right next door, although we had other things we wanted to do so we weren't able to go. Hotel under renovation

"The hotel has been recently rebranded and is undergoing extensive renovations. The bits they've finished, like the rooms and the dining room, are new and shiny. The room itself was comfortable. It's close to the town, which has good izakaya and other options if you're not on a meal plan. There is also a Lawson close-by. On weekdays especially the hotel is an active construction site inside and out. It probably isn't what the workers want, to have to share a construction site with guests. It also felt a bit odd as a guest e.g. the workers congregate/socialise/smoke in a space inside the hotel entrance. I realise they are trying hard to improve the hotel, and the hotel staff were courteous and helpful at all times. The state of construction is reflected in the price, which is cheaper than nearby options. I read about the construction in advance from Japanese language reviews on other sites, so it wasn't a complete surprise."

"The hotel is right opposite the Amanohashidate station. The room was great and all should try the onsen. Staff speaks limited English but they are still very helpful and polite. The buffet breakfast is wonderful. Check out the spread of Japanese seafood items and the fish miso soup. Do plan for your dinner as many shops are closed after 5pm."

"We did not opt for the meal package so it’s possible we missed out on an amazing experience there but we did not miss out on the top level experience of the Kitanoya. Full Japanese ryokan room with the most luxurious 2 person open air granite ofuro I have ever seen let alone enjoyed with a delightful garden beyond. We chose this place to unwind from the crowds of Kyoto and we could not have made a better choice. Service was impecable. Can I give it a 6? The hotel matches the incomparable beauty and serenity of Amanohasidate. Arigato Hotel Kitanoya. "

"Goodness us…. PLEASE treat yourself and stay at least one night in this beautiful traditional hotel with its own onsen! We had a superbly decorated very very very large traditional room (tatamis), a view of the little port and the sea of Japan with sunset…. And we discovered once there that one could book their private onsen! Oh and yes, it’s ‘only’ a 100 years old family hotel…. Don’t forget to check their ‘souvenirs table’ of locally or Japan made goodies to take home. The friendliness and discretion of the front desk people is exemplary. This was part of the highlight of our holidays in Japan. Thank you so much for offering such a beautiful hotel to us visiting tourists. We wish you only the best for years to come! "

"Everything is top quality: service, staff's attitude, restaurant, cleanliness, free shuttle from/to the station. They pay attention to every detail and every your request. They have prepared outstanding vegan meal upon my request. Highly recommend to people with food restrictions. Also, there is a garden and various activities that you can enjoy with kids too."
