"Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."

"The hotel offer superb Japanese hospitality, the meals are delicious. Service are polite and excellent ! It is a very traditional Ryokan with an in-room onsen bath. The hotel does not offer a communal onsen bath. Our room faces mount Yufuin and the view is very nice. Hotel does not have a shuttle service, however, it will pay the taxi driver when you hail a taxi to go to the hotel, on check out, hotel will get a taxi to get you back to the rail station . The stay was very relaxing and of value."

"No bathroom!!!!!!! Overpriced tiny room ! It says “ shared bathroom” no only the hot spring room which is for all the residents! A con a rip off. I am going to sue them get a refund. Liars. DO NOT go there!"

"Great place to experience a traditional Japanese ryokan. Food was excellent, and it was very close to the lake and shopping area. But the room was too cold to stay in icy Winer. If I go again, it will be either in Spring or Fall. "

"Really good value with good breakfast."

"Comfortable guest house run by a sweet lady. Very homelike feel and a huge breakfast! A plus for me was the cat, Assi. She is very comfortable around strangers and likes to meow at your door for a visit. She does go to her own room at 9pm, so won't disturb your sleep. "

"The place is clean and the onsen is awesome. The owner is very nice and friendly, help us to call taxi to the train station. Location is good and convenient, near to the lake and Yufuin Floral Village. There are many cafe and restaurant nearby the lake."

"We had an emergency with our toddler and had to go to the hospital. The staff were outstanding and helped us every step of the way. This was old school service and we were made to feel like more than just guests. We were made to feel like family. We cannot thank them enough. "

"Our stay was unique and our hosts were hospitable and warm. A family run ryokan. The kaiseki dinner was also aesthetically pleasing and delish! Our chalet was very private and set in the midst of the woods. It had a private bath and bedrock sauna that looked out into the maple trees and bamboo trees. Great for relaxing after climbing Mt Aso!"

"We booked the hotel the day of the trip as we had change plans due to Typhoon Haishen. When we entrance to the hotel was blocked with a rope and they did not answer the phone. There was noone to get any information, we did not get a cancellation or a notification. We were left in the typhoon with nowhere to go and struggled to find anything for hours during when the weather got really bad. "I love that this hotel was completely different than what I expected. Upon arriving I was pleasantly surprised by the bed & breakfast style of the hotel and the nostalgic memorabilia displayed throughout the hotel as well. The staff was very informative and accommodating to my needs while speaking english. I felt right at home. The free hot chocolate was delicious which I sipped graciously in the living room after a hot soak in the private onsen. I had such a relaxing experience. I am looking forward to visiting Yufuin again and returning to this hotel! "
