"A 2 night stay, part of a longer vacation. Tucked away in spacious grounds in a quiet area, yet still easily accessible with the A75 nearby. The staff were very friendly and helpful on our smooth check in. The hotel itself was a grand old building set in spacious grounds, with its own golf course and plenty of woodland walks, and a 3 mile walk to the beach. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, well appointed and clean. We enjoyed an evening meal, the food and staff were very good. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. A good selection of fresh fruit and cereal and juices. But the buffet hot breakfast was a little disappointing. Some of it had obviously been out for a while and was cold. We are familiar with the area so it was a good base for exploring. There is good walking and cycling in the Galloway forest. Plenty of beaches to discover nearby. The area is also a Dark Park and on a clear night the starry sky is quite impressive. Overall we had a very good time and will return. "

"This was our first time to the Dumfries area and we had a great time exploring the forests and coastline. Also took the kids for a day at Mabie Farm Park. Everyday it was a pleasure to come back to Woodedge Lodge and get in the hot tub. The lodge was lovely, had everything we needed for a great long weekend. Nigel was friendly and great communication. Thank you so much for a great stay. "

"We chose this hotel as it was relatively close to Southerness Golf Club where our son was playing a competition. The family room we stayed in was recently updated and very clean. All interactions with the staff were excellent and they went out of their way to help us when we came back from the golf on Saturday soaked! The Birchtree is dog friendly and our little pooch was treated like a king! Thanks to all the guys at the hotel and we will be back next time there is a golf tournament at Southerness GC."

"A fabulous place to stay. Creetown is beautiful and the accommodation is friendly, safe, and spotlessly clean, as well as being very comfortable. It is also fantastic value. With a very comfy bed, great shower, free tea and coffee and a TV in the bedroom, this was a superb place in which to stay and unwind after a long day's travel. The manager is a lovely gentleman and was very helpful. I will look forward to staying here again soon "
